Views on Polak's game
« on: February 25, 2007, 08:31:13 PM »
Watching on the tellie I thought Polly did fairly well today considering the way the ball was coming down. However the media articles are saying he was ordinary. Gas was the one struggling especially with the new hand in the back rule so Polak had to move to full back.

Thoughts on Polly's game today?

I actually thought he was close to our best - no on seconds thoughts I reckon he was our best.

Gave a contest at every opportunity and ran hard out of defence. Had very little support. He had a few frees paid against him for that rather bizarre new interpretation on the hands in the back rule.

I understand why we went after him - he gives us some size down - without him we'd be very light on indeed

I thought for his first game in Tiger colours he did a reasonable job.
I thought Bowden's disposal today was shocking. Three times his clangers resulted in goals.

I thought he was good but I've heard equal opinions he was hopeless.

I'll go with my opinion.

Bring back Thursty ASAP.  Bye Gas.

Tiv did kick a 9 pointer - that has to amount to something.

I thought Polak was one of our best yesterday. :thumbsup Stood tall and got some real drive out for the backline especially in the second half. As others have said, the ball was coming down so fast it was difficult for any of our backmen to get into good position. Our forward defensive pressure all day was pathetic. Pettifer had a shocker. looked slow, was out of position all day. WHO WAS ON G.ABLETT???? I could go on but I'll save it for the main thread.

TIV HIT UR TARGETS!

Yeah  :-\

Is 13 effective kicks out of 15 not acceptable?  People really need to get over this thing against Tiv.

Surely "TAMBLING HIT UR TARGETS!" would be much more acccurate.

I thought Tiv was pretty solid. Top 5 for me. You could tell he was trying all day. There were plenty of others that deserve to be canned before Tiv! But the source of complaint in this thread is tainted with its usual and predictable bias. ::)

he kicked a nice torp too, so what, 75% ofof his disposal was shocking, wrong decision making , and missing targets. when he does hit a target he looks fantastic, he is the best worst kick in the afl, the ball looks gr8 in flight but goes str8 to the opposition

If JON keeps growing he will be more suited to HB and even CHB (similar to the way Waite was used by Pagan on the weekend).

The media have overlooked that Polak had to go back to the FB line as Gas was struggling yet he was still able to generate run for us. We've probably solved one key backline post (Polak at CHB) but the full-back position now needs to be looked at.

Tiv did kick a 9 pointer - that has to amount to something.

Tivs should do it more often. Best way to get past the flood. As a team we don't kick nowhere near enough of these long running goals and instead try to pass the ball off up forward even if the best option is to go for goal.
