Prediction for round one
« on: March 01, 2007, 03:31:17 PM »
I reckon Carlton are going to smash us by 10+ goals in round one.

We will be lucky to win a game out of the first 6, perhaps Collingwood.

Get prepared for some more Hundred point thrashings this year as well, we will be very up and down, wont make the eight.

what a bunch of pessimists
have some faith, still a bit of time to go b4 rnd 1.

so fev will kick 8 hey, what if say he does a hammy a week prior and does not play.

still early to predict how we will go, but there is no reason why we cant win it either

Way too early to write us off with a month to go. Apart from Simmo who is touch and go for round 1, our injuries aren't actually to our matchwinners and Cogs hasn't had a full injury free season in the past 4 years. Razor, Kingsley, Casserley and Petersen won't make too many opposition coaches go "phew lucky they're out".

Look injuries are once again hampering our progress and although the prognosis seems to be grim on the surface it does not need to be. If anything if we want to capitalise on our improvement and what to have more depth on our list we need to have faith in the youngsters coming through like Cleve Hughes Jack Riewoldt etc. Only big game exposure can do this and the experience gained will be invaluable for them. Sure we might get a belting every now and then and that really hurts but if it means better in the long run I'll take.
For those who can remember when we beat Essendon on 2nd semi final day in 1995 who was thinking about the 139 point belting we copped in Adelaide in rd 16 1993 when we kicked 5 unanswered goals in the 3rd quarter or Rogo marked twice ina minute in the last quarter. I bet not many is the answer at that point in time. I'll take 3 100 plus point beltngs like last year if it means this year or next year I see finals footy the players have learnt from those mistakes and it makes us a sterner team a smarter team and a better team. Plus it makes the good times even sweeter when we get to them. Have a bit of faith guys were 0 and zero right now equal with W Coast.

Fev wont do a hammy? Why ?
Because he doesnt get flogged on the track and isnt 31 years old
Faith, I reckon we have an very ordinary list.
Lets ee whats happens this year.
Simmo ? Took him 12 months to get him fit.
Lets see how he goes on a very limited preparation.
His first year with us was just, last year he had a HUGE preseason, this year NO pre-season. I will predict he has an ordinary year and thats not through a lack of trying.
If anyone ask me six weeks ago would we make the finals, I would of said no probs, now, I doubt it.

Jackstar I agree with you up to a point our list is not totally up to scratch as some players should not even be there let alone at AFL level but a very similar list was 7-2 after 9 rounds in 05 and then Browny and a few other disasters occurred. Furthermore we had a horrible start last year but by round 14 we had beaten Port in Adelaide last year for the first time and were 8-6 and in the 8 albeit with a poor %. We also had even worse injuries last year Thrsfield Newman Cogs to compound the half fit Browny . That Hawx game was the one that got away. I even hark back to rd 2 game v the Saints and the job Thursfield was doing to Riewoldt and the freedom Riewoldt had after Will did his knee which was the difference b/ween the sides. All it takes is a bit more luck than what we have had in the first two years of Terry's tenure and we can scrape in. We won 11 last year yet with 11 and a half we would have made the eight in 05. All it takes is to win 1 or 2 more games and we are there. I am still sure we are capable.

I am sure we capable too, but injuries will play a huge part.
Simmo plays a major part in our structure.
Unfortunately it relies on to  few at Tigerland.

LMFAO one dodge performance with a dodgy team changes our good training form to another bad year come up?  4 goal win.  Will be tough though no doubt.

Control Fev, and the game is ours.
