well ... i was six when this happened ... can't remember it ...

but was at the 2002 Final v Port Adelaide ...

1993 we finished last or second last right ???

1994 missed out ... 9th

1995 ... a great year ...

Yeah i was at the Port Adelaide grand final also, we really stuggled that night. Although one David Rodan nearly won the game off his own boot with the centre clearances in the last qtr.

Maybe that was something that stuck in Mark Williams head when we delisted him.

That 2002 preseason GF was one of the worst games of footy. Just a low scoring grind and sadly a sign of things to come under Spud.

Northey was always able to get the best out of a playing group although he never got to a day flag at any of the 4 clubs he coached. His time with us was like two halves. 1993 and early 94 we hardly won a game (lost 11 in a row at one stage) and then things started to click midway through 94 with 24 wins, 10 losses and a draw from then on till he quit.

Doh! Thanks Darth. I forgot about the 88 GF where they got flogged. I meant day GFs though. The Dees won the night comp in 87 and 89 under Northey IIRC.

Ben Johnson & Carl Lewis ran the 88 Seoul Olympic 100m final the day that the Hawks won the 88 GF.

I remember being one of the 5-10k or so that got locked out  :(
 I recall the euphoria with fellow tigers at school anticipating a return to greatness, then round 1 v adelaide came along...  :shh

Never forget being stuck in the car park after the Grand Final for ages. Classic Waverley. It summed up the ground. Everyone trying to get out the one entrance at the one time. Luckily was in car which mainly had Richmond supporters who let rip at a few Bombers supporters after the match which was highly amusing. Remember the joy of beating Hawthorn and Todd Menegola kicking the winning goal against Fitzroy.

Could not stand that ground. The other memory of 1993 which always stands out for me was going to the Brisbane match at the MCG in a taxi and being told by the taxi driver that he was driving taxis as he had just been sacked as a recruiter by Richmond.

We walked from home and I remember being in Wellington Rd,  looking behind me and seeing car lights as far as the eye could see.
Really, when you consider last year, the tiger fans are a unique beast in the AFL
