MT,He's broken the law.

He should go to trial.

Police have taped conversations of him talking about selling drugs.

A member of society is taped by police having a conversation to a reputed drug dealer,
about buying a quantity of drugs to both use and distribute amongst his,"friends" but for the sake of this topic we will refer to them as clients.

He is from this point in a point of survey for WA police and drug squad respectively.

The player concerned, then is caught by his wife having an orgy with 4 chicks(which i aint hating him for) and all high as kites
on drugs supplied by the player in question.

To save face, instead of standing up like a man and copping his whack,HE somehow manages to elude public scrutiny
over a matter that would see you or I spending at least a brief stint behind bars or at least in police custody,
by having his Daddy take him to a rehabilitation clinic in Hollywood.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???

Meanwhile, the stupid general public sits back and expects him to apear back on the playing list with no further discipline.

Because he's "done rehab ",we as a society are conditioned to delude ourselves into believing that all should be forgiven.

Let me tell u.

He ain't addicted to jack poo, merely escaping out of another side door by saying so.
The guy is as fit as a horse.
His weakness is only his inability to say no.
I wanna see this little monkey cop his wrap.

I want to see coverage of the trial that should occur when he is charged by police with the merit of the recorded fone calls.

I wanna see tghe AFL say,"sorry mate - u stuffed up! - Bye !"

I wanna see the AFL penalise WC for failing to abide by the rules and regulations that 15 other clubs must,
mainly presenting a playing list on match day that has no players using performance enhancing drugs and that is exactly what cocaine, speed,Ice all are.

SURELY THESE FACTS CANNOT BE IGNORED.
SURELY HE WONT PLAY AGAIN!

What about Justin Charles ????????????

Great post, Ox.  Don't like bagging players when I don't know the facts, but there seems a lot of stuff going on that's a bit on the nose.

Allegedly (for the site's sake)  :shh. Actually I thought that was allegedly another shorter midfielder who was caught on tape but doesn't matter who it was. I agree Ox, it's not right. That's why I said he should have the book thrown at him. If he was a fringe player he would've been sacked or more likely delisted and had to face the law a la that Carlton idiot. As a star player his behaviour is/was tolerated and now not punished. He conveniently  ::) hasn't tested positive so the authorities have not only washed their hands of it but the AFL instead gave that club a 75k salary cap space bonus  ::). It's not a physical injury like Browny or Cogs nor a mental illness like Nathan Thompson's depression. It was self-inflicted and a choice he made so why does he and his club get special treatment while those suffering due to no fault of their own get nothing. It sux!

Yes MT...all allegations on this posters behalf are forwarded,"without prejudice."

This is a guy who runs from his car and police, only to leave his wife to deal with the situation.

This is a guy whos Daddy takes him out of the country to a rehab clinic @ a minimum of 2k(US) a day.

I can just see the report from them now."Ben has responded amazingly well to treatment an is now ok to come home" :P

This charmed existence doesn't wear well on the rest of the country.

Agree with Oxx.  Not the first bit of trouble he's had.  No wonder Sam gave him the flick.  Shouldn't be allowed to play AFL for a minimum 12 months.  His stint in rehab didn't last long did it?  And why aren't the AFL questioning West Coast regarding the conduct of their players.  Seems to be getting worse and worse over there.

The AFL and Eagles have really punished Cousins. 4 weeks rehab and he's back able to play when just the Eagles say so  ::).

Problems stemmed from substance use: Cousins
The Age
May 4, 2007 - 4:00PM

West Coast star Ben Cousins has publicly apologised for his stunning fall from grace.

In his first public statement since the club indefinitely suspended him on March 20, the Brownlow Medallist said today he had undergone rehabilitation in the past month including "treatment for a number of personal issues including illness as a result of substance use".

"My treatment is an ongoing process and I have many challenges ahead of me that I need to overcome as part of my recovery to full health," he said.

"I apologise to West Coast, sponsors, the AFL and the community for my actions.

"I am sorry that I have disappointed many people who have supported me in the past."

Cousins added he would fulfil any obligations that the Eagles impose on him so he can play again.

"At the present time, I do not know when I will play again, my priority is to regain my health, my life and my standing," he said.

"As you are aware I have been at an overseas rehabilitation centre for the past month month undergoing treatment for a number of personal issues including illness as a result of substance use," said Cousins.

While he did not go into any great detail about his personal problems today, Cousins' father Bryan admitted last month his son had a substance abuse problem.

On March 29, he went to an exclusive rehabilitation clinic in Malibu, California.

The day before his return to Perth on April 30, the AFL held a meeting with the Eagles hierarchy to discuss a number of issues relating to their players' off-field behaviour, with Cousins foremost on the agenda.

West Coast chairman Dalton Gooding publicly apologised after the meeting.

Cousins, 28, cannot resume his playing career until he gets the all-clear from both the Eagles and the AFL.

AFL warns Cousins to expect regular drug testing

AFL warns Cousins to expect regular drug testing
Mark Duffield, Perth | May 15, 2007
The Age

BEN Cousins has been warned that he will be target tested for illicit drugs for the rest of his career and that he could be tested during his drug rehabilitation.

The warning was issued by AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou, who flew to Perth yesterday with AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson and chief medical officer Peter Harcourt for a 90-minute meeting with Cousins. They also met Cousins' father Bryan, Eagles doctor Rod Moore, deputy chairman Mark Barnaba and coach John Worsfold.

They expect to meet with Cousins at least once more before he is cleared to play AFL football again and Demetriou stressed yesterday that a return was a long way off.

"We leave here better informed, particularly now that we have had the chance to talk to Ben Cousins and his father and also get a a briefing from the club doctor," he said. "We found both of those meetings to be very informative. There is a program in place and we are pleased that … it is in line with the program that we discussed.

"What is important here is that there is still a medical issue to deal with and we will be guided by the medical treatment which has obviously got a long way to go. There are more weeks of rehabilitation to come.

"And of course Ben is fully aware and knows full well that the AFL's position is that we have to be satisfied with a series of conditions that he will have to adhere to and also through our medical officer and his assessment before he can play again.

"He is fully aware of what will occur and how he will be target tested as part of this process. What I do know is that he won't be playing for a long time — for several weeks — and we have to now rely on the medical advice that is overseeing his out-patient rehabilitation treatment."

Ben's drugs, booze vow

TROUBLED Eagle Ben Cousins has set his sights on 1000 days without alcohol or drug use.

Sources close to the fallen idol say he has set that lofty target and is confident he can reach it.

It comes as Eagles president Dalton Gooding said yesterday the club was hopeful Cousins would return next month and his contract conditions would be determined by the club, not the AFL.

Maybe a bit of Karma. Cousins has done a hammy at training this morning so his comeback has been put on hold a couple more weeks despite getting the AFL clearance to play today .
