2006: 12 matches    3 goals (Knee)
2005: 22 matches    8 goals (O.P)
2004: 7 matches      5 goals (Knee)
2003: 21 matches    13 goals (Not Injured)
2002: 16 matches    8 goals (Not Injured)
2001: 5 matches      0 goals (Not Injured)

it seems that since THAT: Best and Fairest, Top 10 Brownlow Medal ... it has gone down hill for Coughlan ...

83 matches     37 goals ... 2 Knees + 1 year with O.P ...

just hope we gets back and NO MORE INJURIES !

He had "pelvic instability" in 2004 (being called OP). Played the first few games of the season and shouldn't have. Did his knee for the first time in 2006. ;)

I just worry about guys knees that just 'go', I think they are more susceptible to a re-occurance.

Thursfields happened in a contest and he got crunched, hopefully he'll be ok.

Yeah agree.  I have concerns about Coughlans knee in that it broke down from simple running and turning whereas it took alot of force to injure Thursfield's knee.  It seems that it's a structural thing with Cogs in that there are weak ligaments within his knee which would explain why a slip in the shower would re-injure it.

David Shwarze had about 3-4 knee reco's and I think most were caused by running and turning.  Can someone re-call how he did all his knees?  I can only vividly remember him doing one against sydney where he just changed direction and went down.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

Yeah that's right Harry - his knee literally collapsed under him. THey also later on that the problem may have been genetic because his sister who was a netballer (just local comp) did her knee a couple of times too.

Look at Neale Daniher as well he had 3 IIRC. They reckon that for some blokes the grafts just don't heal up the way they should and they are in the minority not the majority

Sad as it is, he should be moved on once his contract is up at the end of this year..

He is one of our highest paid players and I can't see him coming back from these knee injuries.

Sure it sounds ruthless but that's professional footy.

its not being ruthless, its just looking after the club

dragacevic, b4  his knees, was a far superior and better player with heaps more potential than cogs.  after his 2 knees it slowed him down, and he still had gr8 skills, but he was let go.

cogs should be treated no different, forget what he achieved when he was fit, thats the past, its gone and wont come back

footy isnt like it used to be, its so fast and you need top noth speed and agility, and skills, things he does not possess

bye bye cogs

Dragga never won a B&F nor got past the "potential" tag IMO before doing his knee the first time. He had a couple of cameo games (one where he kicked 3 goals in a quarter against the Pies in 2000) but that was about it. He started 2001 alright but then did his knee in round 6 no thanks to a up and under hospital pass from a teammate  :P. He was also a completely different type of player compared to Cogs as well. Dragga was an outside receiver; Cogs an inside midfielder. Tragic for both of them to be cut down by injury so early in their footy careers  :(.

Dragicevic is still a stand out player for West Adelaide over here in the SANFL too.  Teh pace is obviously different but he is still playing extremely well.

I still think he holds currency in the footy world, could send him to WC or Freo for a 2nd round pick.
