When did it stop  ???. We knew before tonight we have an ordinary list still and so can't afford to have our best players in the stands or played underdone. I can't believe some people are shocked by tonight's result. As much as I was hoping we'd cause an upset, I was expecting to come home and find out we got blown off the 'G with the game over by half-time. All the signs were there based on past "efforts" but it didn't happen.

I dont think shocked is the right word MT. I think most of us still have(had) this feeling that maybe things would come good for us. Theres always a tiny bit of hope. Me? I always start the year busting for the season to start and really hopeful about our chances...not this year, specially not after yesterday. I felt the same as everyone on here yesterday,  a sick sinking feeling in my gut and dreading the year ahead, and i hate it, footy season is usually a highlight :(

Fair enough 2JD. I'm just amazed by the doom and gloom reaction to a 3 goal loss in round 1.

ok guys now its my turn !

i just got home from the football too ...

what can i say ...

everything on this thread is what i'm thinking !

but of course i have things to say ...

i am going to try and point out who was at least ok tonight ...

carlton are pooh ... (FULL STOP)

and if we can't beat them ...

well ... whats lower then pooh ???

i don't know ...

its going to be another long "FULL OF pooh" year ...

to tell you the truth ... i am upset at Terry Wallace ...

i am sick and tired of his rubbish ... as well as the players saying their predictions ...

anyone that says "its only round 1" ... don't you dare critise richmond at all this year ...

this is going to get worse ... and worse and worse ...

i agree with some people on here that said we will finish bottom 4 ...

i never thought we would make the f..... (i will never say that word towards richmond untill we are there)

this year ... i only predicticted using that ladder predicitor ...

but in my heart and head ... i know we aren't going to be there ...

back to Terry ...

Terry should shut the f*** up ... just shut your f***ing face ...

you keep talking up our chances and we go and play like this ...

the match was over in the 3rd quarter when we were leading ...

i could see it in the players ...

NO F***ING HEART ...

there are some who do have ... but its the team ...

Terry is trying ... no doubt ... and you no what ... is doing better then the last coach we had ...

but Terry ... STOP TALKING UP PUR CHANCES ... SAY F***ING NOTHING ...

to me ... all the pre-season work was what ??? a waste ???

where was the improvement ??? did anyone see it ???

our midfield was meant to be in fine fit condition ???

they out ran us ... BY THE 3RD QUARTER !!!

have i lost faith ... NO ...

i am pretty disapointed ...

they smashed us really ... the scoreboard says it !!!

40 - 25 scoring shots + fev's 2 out on the full ... 42 - 25 ...

there midfield more clearences ...

Nick Stevens ... Best on Ground ... killed us yet again ...

i am just really sick of richmond talking rubbish and playing like that ...

now i CBF talking about each players match but who i thought was ok ...

Richardson, Jay, Howat, Tivendale, Polo ...

WHY THE F*** DIDN'T TERRY LEAVE HOWAT ON THAT WING ???

i hardly didn't see him after half-time !

Johnson ... your bad ...

Moore and McGuane "F*** OFF"

Gaspar "F*** OFF"

Pattison ??? where the f*** were you tonight !

Andrew Raines got beaten tonight ...

Tambling ... YOUR VERY BAD

AND THIS PLAYER

BRETT DELEDIO !

what the hell is he doing ??? is he doing anything at all ???

where is this gun player that people are talking about ???

he has got what i call the "RICHMOND DISEASE"

DELEDIO PULL YOUR F***EN FINGER OUT !

Kayne Pettifer, i see now why people call you a GIRL !

go for the football and not the free kick ...

one-on-one with Gibbs and you played for the free kick you f***ing idiot !

Chris Newman ... not bad ...

Foley had 16 touches at quarter time ... he was going good ...

but what happened ??? i didn't see him in the centre after that ???

Joel Bowden you are pooh ... as well as your brother FULL STOP ...

you getting 2 All-Australians is a joke ...

did anyone see the BOMBERS play today ???

I DIDN'T SEE THEM ... i just read the scores and i knew EXACTLY how they played !

why is it that our players seem to not give a F*** ???

NO HEART RICHMOND ...

if they don't learn from this match ... we're gone ...

the turnovers in the backline ???

wtf ???

our plan was so bad ... short passing isn't our game style ...

we lack a plan and a structure up forward still !

who is in charge of our midfield ??? Royal ???

wtf is he doing ???

where is our hard running, creating players ???

foley was that player but just left after that 1st quarter !

he was our link up player !

GET JAKE KING IN THE TEAM ...

GET ANDREW RAINES IN THE MIDFIELD NOW ...

that will free him up ...

Kane Johnson on the half-back line ...

Johnson should never play  in the midfield ...

forget tagging ...

try to win the ball and kick goals ...

RICHMOND: GOALS WIN YOU MATCHES NOT POSESSIONS !!!

just kick goals ...

Andrew Krakouer ... when he was in the midfield at the bounce he won about 3-4 balls ...

get him in there !

use Krakouer for the bounce ... thats it !

Tuck ... wtf ... i don't understand him anymore ???

05 he was kicking it 100 metres ... now he is not kicking it at all ...

chris hyde should be our tagger ...

ok ... i am over this ... LMAO ...

a BAD loss ... is this worse then our start against the bulldogs ???

thats 3 bad starts in the 1st match under Terry Wallace !

05: Geelong 83 pts
06: W/B 100+ pts
07: Carlton 17 pts ... but we know how bad that was ...

The Richmond Football Club Is A Joke ... because our players have ...

NO HEART !

Wow.

Reading that fires me up as well.

I agree with 90 % of that.

This is the one post I wish the club would read and then post it on the noticeboard for all the players to read.

IMO they all need to prove that want the jumper again.

All except about a half a dozen players.

I can just see it now, a disgruntled feral who is sick of his regular september caravan holidays,
stalking Miller in his Budget hotel, at some interstate location and looking for another ageing

Just as long as you don't start blaming Wallace for our list, Jack.

Gotta jump in here.

Wallace and Miller have to start taking responsibility for the list.  They can't hide behind Danny Frawley forever.

During the 2004 draft we had a massive oportunity to steer this ship in the right direction.  Somehow I feel we failed.  Don't have a problem with the philosophy and reasoning of our first 2 picks (both highly regarded) but have a problem with the next 3.  Atm I fear Tambling will not amount to anything.  Then Meyer - he was the wrong type.  Needed a big back or a strong inside mid with skill.  He is none of these and the signs don't look good with him.  The next 2, Polo and Patto, had massive question marks regarding skill level at the time of drafting.  Still the case.  Polo is not a solid body inside type with good skills.  He is OK but I feel he won't be a matchwinner.  Patto is passable at this stage, but will he be effective bigman?  Again, there were better credentialled players at the time.

Only taking 3 kids in the 2005 draft is unforgivable.  2nd year in a rebuilding program and you only pick 3 players.  And to make it worse our first pick was a speculative pick at best.  There were far better credentialed players than JON.  Hurn, Jones and Higgins to name just a few.  We needed skillful inside mids and big backmen but totally ignored both.

Trading away pick 8 in 2006 was also the wrong thing to do.  When you are rebuilding you stick to basics and you don't try to take short cuts.  You take hold of your draft picks and you cherish them.  You soley focus on the draft and analyse every single player.  What was Wallace doing in the US during trade week.  The most important period behind draft day and Wallace is away on holidays.  Does this represent a coach that is 100% committed?  One wonders how much research and time they put into the draft.

The honeymoon period is over for Wallace and Miller.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

Well said harry ,though one positive is that we now actually have a new recruiting officer.

I know it is too early to tell how good he is but going on what a few people have said its looking
promising..doesn't make up for mistakes in the past but maybe we will start to get somewhere now...

Wallace and Miller have to start taking responsibility for the list.  They can't hide behind Danny Frawley forever.

True Harry but don't underestimate how stuffed our list was thanks to Spud.

We got Simmo for Fiora so a big win there.

Patto will be fine. It's just going to take time. Remember he should be playing second fiddle to a senior ruckman but thanks to injuries he's going to have to do it on his own for the first month of the season.
Meyer is being played out of position even if Danny is partly too blame. Not saying he should be in the seniors but even at Coburg he should be played off a HBF; not in dead man's corner on a HFF. Coaches' fault that one.
Tambling may turn out fine in the long run but it is always a risk taking a 2nd division U18 player with an early first round pick.

We got White as well but fair enough on this one. Winning all those games early on with Browny firing hurt us come draft time as well as 3 clubs IIRC getting priority picks  ::) which pushed us back further. It hurts us that we have nothing worthy of trading once we traded away Ottens and Fiora given the hole in the middle of our list. Other clubs don't rate our mid-bracket and senior players.

Too early to judge this lot. What was a mistake was rookieing two new smalls (Clingan and King) instead of one more young tall. Talls take longer to develop so there's always a chance of finding a hidden diamond.

The honeymoon period is over for Wallace and Miller.

That was always going to be the case given it was his third year. More pressure on Miller IMO as he was responsible for the 2003 draft as well. That draft was weak but Gilmour and Roach were servere blunders while Jackson will most likely be gone at the end of this year. The only real gains were Rainesy and Browny (trade) with Tuck being so-so.

After reading this thread the main thought that comes to mind is............what a massive over-reaction!Some of the above words were driven by emotion, not rational thought. I understand that emotion, and share the disappointment, but I don't accept the over the top drivel that some people have spewed up.

As MT said or alluded to, Carlton were more match-fit from their 4 NAB games, and only had one "best 22" player out. We had key players in Brown, Cogs and Simmo out, along with Kingsley. They were up in confidence from their NAB premiership as well.

We ran out of legs, and got killed in the ruck. Had Simmo played, I think we would have won.

Anyway, it's only round one.Wait until you get the full picture that half a season would bring.Remember that last year we lost the first three, then came back to win 11 games.Wait a little while before slashing your wrists.

sorry i cant accept that.
we may have been down on man power, but all we have heard this pre season is how much fitter we are.
i actually thought our fitness was not the problem, we wore ourselves out by playing "hot potatoe" and "ring a ring a rosy".
we need to sopend a pre season based on skill work not just fitness.

wallace wore our team to the ground this preseason , they have started the season burned out, and with no improvement on skill level.

what bugs me , is terry pointed out the lack of fitness polac and simmonds had coming from freo, what a joke, he cant talk, as look at the state of our boys. if we were the fittest strongest team, then terry had every right to open his mouth, but look at us, and he goes out judging other clubs

Wallace and Miller have to start taking responsibility for the list.  They can't hide behind Danny Frawley forever.

The honeymoon period is over for Wallace and Miller.

Not saying they don't have to take responsibility for the choices they make, but a lot of it is a legacy of another era.  None of those players are tradeable, you can't do a darn thing with them, so we've been hamstrung by what we're able to do come the draft.

They have to take responsibility for Brown - he was too old and didn't fit into Terry's formula - yet he still recruited him.

Yep, the honeymoon is over and I don't have a problem with people criticisiing Wallace and Miller for legitimate reasons, ie Wallace's game plan, recruitment etc.  It's those with self-serving interests which I don't like, that you really have to look beyond and wonder why they would do such an about turn from previous years.

Anyone who tries to harm my club for their own selfish reasons and massive ego can go to hell.

I'm not worried yet. Look at the teams that lost this round. Do you think the Crows or Freo have written their seasons off just because they were beaten by teams that performed well below them last season? Carlton are not the rabble they were last year, they have improved greatly and we looked undersized and not as match fit. I'm confident both of these things will be overcome in the very near future. I was pleased with Polak's performance as well as Tiv's. Foley's first half was also very good.

On the negative, Kane Johnson had a shocker. Sorry MT, The Sugar bandwagon has hit the telegraph pole of mediocrity and I have been catapulted into oblivion by its over inflated airbags. I doubt I will be getting back on anytime soon.  :banghead
