As MT said or alluded to, Carlton were more match-fit from their 4 NAB games, and only had one "best 22" player out. We had key players in Brown, Cogs and Simmo out, along with Kingsley. They were up in confidence from their NAB premiership as well.

We ran out of legs, and got killed in the ruck. Had Simmo played, I think we would have won.

sorry i cant accept that.
we may have been down on man power, but all we have heard this pre season is how much fitter we are.
i actually thought our fitness was not the problem, we wore ourselves out by playing "hot potatoe" and "ring a ring a rosy".
we need to sopend a pre season based on skill work not just fitness.

wallace wore our team to the ground this preseason , they have started the season burned out, and with no improvement on skill level.

what bugs me , is terry pointed out the lack of fitness polac and simmonds had coming from freo, what a joke, he cant talk, as look at the state of our boys. if we were the fittest strongest team, then terry had every right to open his mouth, but look at us, and he goes out judging other clubs

We were flying 2 months ago before all the injuries set in. That's when the comments about being "fitter than ever" were being said. Hardly anything said since then ;). Just two many players went into the game yesterday underdone - Hyde, Paddy, Newy, Richo and Schulz on top of Simmo and Browny missing.

Wallace and Miller have to start taking responsibility for the list.  They can't hide behind Danny Frawley forever.

The honeymoon period is over for Wallace and Miller.

Not saying they don't have to take responsibility for the choices they make, but a lot of it is a legacy of another era.  None of those players are tradeable, you can't do a darn thing with them, so we've been hamstrung by what we're able to do come the draft.

They have to take responsibility for Brown - he was too old and didn't fit into Terry's formula - yet he still recruited him.

Yep, the honeymoon is over and I don't have a problem with people criticisiing Wallace and Miller for legitimate reasons, ie Wallace's game plan, recruitment etc.  It's those with self-serving interests which I don't like, that you really have to look beyond and wonder why they would do such an about turn from previous years.

Anyone who tries to harm my club for their own selfish reasons and massive ego can go to hell.

In my opinion, the game plan has been ordinary for the past 6 years.
Yesterday game was a joke. Actually those who went would say laughable.
And the captain kicking the wrong way ? By the way , who was he kicking too ?/ He wouldnt know as he didnt even look, now theres a great example for any young player.

Recruitment has been below par.
Recruiting no one with SIZE. Eg Have a look at West Coasts no1 Brown. No wonder they will make the finals again, they dont recruit "light weights HOPING they will bulk up like we continually do.

Can tell you the board are still seeving about Kent kinsgley being picked up.
Players such as jackson, hartigan, moore and wasting space on our list.
Would not get a game at any other AFL club.

By the way, we have Monkhurst as ruck coach I see, good luck

Wallace didn't recruit Brown.  ;) He was already there.
More likely that Brown recruited Wallace.

we wore ourselves out by playing "hot potatoe" and "ring a ring a rosy".

you have a point there, X.
Whereas Carlton, with their more direct style, would have used
less energy.

We go short and not more direct because it's "safe". Problem is safe short passes get you nowhere. Basic rule of return is the bigger the risk: the greater the return. To kick goals you need to take calculated risks. By calculated I mean you play the percentages. For example if you are running relatively clear 50m out you have a shot because as a professional footballer you should be able to nail the goal at least 75-80% of the time; you don't pass it off to at best a 50/50 contest 25m out frm goal :banghead. You play the percentages.

Our players over the ground have no idea when it comes to basic strategy. They struggle to cope with the actual play happening let alone comprehend 2-3 plays ahead. They think run and carry means you only run when you have the ball. So they either don't run hard enough off the ball to create longer options further up the field or they run too far into trouble when they do have the ball causing everyone else to be out of position and manned up. They have no instinctive understanding of the gameplan at all. Frustrating as hell to watch :help.

Well I have calmed down, but I still do not know what to say.
everthing mentioned so far I have to agree with most.

We are better than Carlton, I firmly beleive that and that is why it is really gutting, I was giving it and had to cop it in the end and I stayed to the end allright.

1. Does the team follow Wallaces game plan ? If so his game plan is, well you know.
2. Stevens, was left alone most of the day and at one stage when Krak went on to him he got dragged, so why didn't he stay there ?
3. Lids real real real dissapointing  :banghead

We should have poo that game in after stuffing around for so long and Winning attitude and killer instinct won it for Carlton in the end as we had absolutly none of it in the last qtr and a bit.

I won't say no way we can't beat Sydney as footy is a funny game (I said 100 points straight after it though) and that may just be a reality if we do the same again.

I said it before and it shouldn't need to get to these points for this bunch of whatever you call them in Richmond jumpers is to play for the stuffen jumper and die for the stuffen pill, instead of thinking they are some type of superstars just cause they are on the field.
I want to see a red hot go and nothing less will satisfy.

I'll say it again we are better than those idiots and that made me stuffen sick  :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

I hate Carlton as much as anyone CUB but I have to disagree on this one. IMO Carlton were the stronger side yesterday at least structurely and in terms of balance across the park. As tiga said they aren't the same side that won back-to-back spoons. We had the better outside runners but we ran out of puff after 2.5 quarters  :(. Having Patto as our only ruckman and needing to use Polak to fill in robbing peter to pay paul hurt us badly. Losing Browny meant we lacked that polish and class to get us across the line and freed up a Walker, Russell or Simpson who would have had to play tight otherwise. Cogs was also a big loss as he normally kills Carlton in the midfield although that was countered by Kouta's absence as well.

X is right about ring a ring a rosy. I was on the afl website watching the live play by play map and you could see the dots joining each pass. On at least four occasions in the second half, our backlines dots went around in a circle before attempting a clearance. It was comical. Carlton, as the game went on became more direct and kicked long along the flanks to leading forwards. We need to transfer play much quicker out of our backline to prevent opposition teams stacking their defences.

On another note I watched the Eagles v Swans game live and the Eagles displayed the most accurate kicking game in general play I have ever seen. Even their young guys were spot on hitting their targets. If we don't start improving our disposal toot sweet, I fear it will be a long winter ahead but I'm not buying any box set DVD's for quiet weekends just yet. :pray :pray

That game plan was from the Northey era. Bomb it in, move it forward at all costs.

How players like Johnson and Tuck are doing that when they weren't even around Richmond in 1995 has got me buggered. Also in 1995 was when Michael Gale kicked the wrong way, maybe Northeys old game plan got mixed up with Terrys.

I want to see some size drafted this year, we have got all the onballers we need. Use our top 4 pick on the best KPP available, our second pick on a ruckmen, and the rest on players over 190cm

And you may not think I care for you

Depends where we finish Wayne but the midfield also needs improving.
Kruezer or Bellchambers would be handy whilst a Trent Cotchin seems to have plenty of fans. Cale Morton has big wraps as KPP in the west. But what do we have to trade?

But what do we have to trade?

I think the midfield needs time now, with Connors, Edwards and Collins added to the other youngsters, it's something we can work with.

We don't have anything much to trade, and I don't think we have too much other teams would want that we'd be willing to give up.

That's tragic lol. At least you could test your sanity tiga looking at the butterfly images we were making with the dots ;D.

We need to transfer play much quicker out of our backline to prevent opposition teams stacking their defences.

The problem is we are such slow thinkers. We are the dumbest team in the league. You'd think after Carlton started kicking point after point that we'd be prepared to set-up for a quick kick-in. Compare us to the Dogs who score goals at will going coast-to-coast from their kick-ins.

On another note I watched the Eagles v Swans game live and the Eagles displayed the most accurate kicking game in general play I have ever seen. We've got the coaches responsible for the Dogs' excellent foot skills yet we still suck ???.
