Summary

* Injuries in the wrong department at the moment with the loss of big men. Tough for Patto and Polak against Everitt and Jolly.

* Knobel - same ankle injury that kept him out for the last 7-8 weeks last year. Can't get through a game. Surgeon going in to have a look. We're hopeful but not sure. Losing Knobel, Stafford (retiring) and Simmo at once isn't what we banked on.

* Simmo may play with Coburg this week. Needs to get gametime into him which he will do initially at Coburg since he missed a lot of footy.

* As for our ruck this week, Patto's best game for us was probably against the Pies in Mildura. He's not completely out of it just had problems against Everitt. Probably won't have the same problems against the Pie ruckman. Our midfield held it's way against the Swans.

* With Foley, Johnson, Polo (and Cogs) we have a strong contest midfield. Allowed us to get on top of Collingwood last time.

* Browny similar to Simmo but hasn't missed as much footy so straight into the seniors. Will play against the Dogs or Eagles. Scans show the hot spot has faded so he is on track. Doctors say it isn't a 5-6 week injury.

* Young guys that are close? Edwards - his run, endurance and speed were very good. Got all the attributes so he isn't far away: Jacko was the one who impressed the most: King played well. We were very competitive but just fell short physically last weekend  and some of our kicking let us down. Greg doesn't think there'll be too many changes.

* Kingsley - week after this at Coburg. 3-4 weeks away.

* We love playing and beating Collingwood which we've done regularly recently ... (laughs with Michael Christensen)

What a load of crap.

We arent in a position to do this and Simmo has been training for a number of weeks now.

He must come straight back in and regain fitness in the seniors.

Simmo doesnt have to play all game in the ruck, he can also be handy up forward and would provide another target besides Richo.

Are Terry and Greg both foxing by saying that Simmo wont play this week, he hasnt been ruled out so i would be surprised.

The audio is dodgy but if I heard Greg right he said something like playing Simmo in forward pocket would work against our structures. Ruckmen need runs in the legs after missing 10 weeks.

i dont disagree with that comment, but Simmo can play up forward.

Besides a 60-70% Simmo has got to better playing in the ruck than any other option available at present.

Would also allow Polak to play a more settled role either fwd or back and Patto to play as the other Ruck.

I couldnt see how we would be any worse off.

It sounds as though we don't rate the Pies ruck stocks. At least not above Patto after the Mildura game.

I agree Bull about a 70% Simmo being heaps better than what we have now but I'd rather we be cautious with Simmo. Same with Browny. Let's hope they are telling us the truth with Browny as well. It's gone from he'll be certainly back for the Dogs game to perhaps he may be back or the week after  :-\.

I don't think they've got any idea when Brown will be back and I am sure not holding my breath.
Doctor Wallace said it was going to be a 20 day injury and now it's looking like a fortnight after that prognosisis...

'The hotspot is fading'? What's to stop it flaring up again after a game of senior footy?

Seriously I am genuinely concerned for his career right at this moment.

Wonder what sort of treatment Browny is getting.  Ultrasound?

I would have thought rest and keeping your weight of your leg was the main treatment. If Browny keeps trying to come back before it has actually healed properly and the Club allows him too then it will just keep flaring up  :(.
