THE STATS THAT MATTER
Both are poor in stoppages. Richmond is 16th in hitouts (-57 compared with its 2007 opponents) and Collingwood is 16th in clearances (-18). Collingwood is No.1 in tackling (+51) compared with Richmond, 14th (-38).

Summary
Trent Knobel's absence for the first half of the season with an ankle injury highlights the lack of height for the Tigers. They pushed Sydney last week, but lacked the finesse to ice the game and are now 0-2 after Carlton ran over the top of them the week before. Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse was furious with his team's ball use after the round two loss to West Coast. The Magpies also have a short turnaround after the trip from Perth and they go into the match with three first-gamers, so overall it's a tough contest to read. The Tigers are in massive trouble if they lose again, but Collingwood looks slightly the better-equipped team.

Key
Richmond key forward Matthew Richardson has only managed five goals in the first two rounds and is due for a big night out. The Tigers always look the goods when they boast some 'Richo Mania'

WE THINK: Both teams were gallant in defeat last week against the two dominant teams of the past two years but the fact Collingwood is coming off the gruelling trip to Perth may just tip the balance in the Tigers' favour here. Both teams are well below full-strength but the Tigers have had the wood on the Magpies in recent times with three wins in their past four meetings. But if the Tigers don't take their opportunity here, it might be a while before they win a game considering they face the Bulldogs, West Coast, Geelong and then back-to-back trips to Adelaide after this game. Richmond by 11 points.

For those not in Melbourne it's a foggy night and they're saying a big crowd is turning up already.
