I am amazed how the media have left Wallace alone.
They tipped the bucket on Frawley who I might add got us to a prelim final.
The current situation is that we are a long long way from making the finals.
I would think after watching last night we have gone backwards in the past three years.

Where is Richmonds  2005/2006 draft picks.?
Had a good look at Thomas last night, he is a very very talented footballer, people mighten like him but boy he can play.

Richmond has not improved onfield in the last three years. And I dont see any improvement in the next few seasons due to the inability of the recruits to step up , this in conjunction with overall poor recuiting and players who are ending the careers, things dont look good at all.

Things will get very interesting in the next few weeks I would think.

What you're stating there is facts, Jack, no-one can disagree.  A lot of our seniors will be retiring soon, so naturally we're going to go backwards.  Hasn't Wallace been stating this as the bleeding obvious, yet people say it's a cop out.  I'm glad you agree with him.
Re the recruits.  They played pretty good last year.  Lids has overcome a disappointing second year and is really shining. Can't complain about Tambo's and Foley's game last night and the others are just a wait and see.  Too early to write off when a lot of them are injured half the time or are yet to even play a game

they were as young as us
but they had a coach and some old fashioned ticker

i have put away my tiger glasses and will now assess my team with realism not optimism

Thought both Tambling and Foley were good and had a red hot go  last night.
I am amazed why we continauuly go indirect around the boundary line and even further amazed that the game plan suggests that players are told to play away form the corrdior and play lateral football.
I watch a lot of games as you know but last night was like a horror movie. would say even worse  than the Frawley era
Might also add when we do go inside 50 we more than often gain possesion on a 45 degree angle or worse.. this is a disgrace thus we do miss a lot of goals.

If we had been more accurate last night early, the result could have been totally different.
Confidence must play a part in it when you continually get the ball down to the forwards and they can't kick

However we lost 3 in a row last year and ended up finishing 9th, call me stupid, dellusional, whatever, I still believe we can come back and win games, I will support the Tigers no matter what, yes it's frustrating, but there is really nothing we can do about it... it's up to Terry and the boys to make the change. I'll still be there week in, week out supporting the boys.

the season is shot, we arent good enough at this stage, if we get lucky we will finish last and get the priority leaving us with 3 picks inside 20. We will have to trade away 1 big name player for a pick- dont know who, but the truth is we will need a 2nd 1st round pick. The problem I see now comes a little further down the track, If we havent improved by the time the next Deledio contract comes up then I cant see the kid sticking around, why would any of our good young kids stick around?

They go around the boundary because it's safe. Too safe. Sydney often do the same thing but they then switch backwards to the corridor once they get to about 70m out to open up the forward line on one side. We don't do the switch the play back to the corridor bit and instead plonk it on Richo or Schulz's head. The other thing is Sydney do the boundary chips only when they know they can't go through the middle. It about controlling the tempo of the game and keeping possession away from the opposition. We seem to do it with no real thought to what we're doing especially our senior players because they don't seem to get what tempo footy is all about. Too compare us to Spud's time is ludicrous. His gameplan was to surrender by halftime and then flood in some misguided attempt to minimise the damage on the scoreboard. 

The goals we missed weren't from acute angles. Richo's missed 3 from almost directly in front, Krak hit his knee 1m out and Schulz and Foley also hit the post from gettable shots. The game should have been over at half-time with us 7 goals in front but we blew it and gave the Pies a sniff.

And another reason teams go around the boundry lines is that it's much faster and easier to set up a defensive structure in the event of a turnover. turnovers in the corridor are much harder to defend. I hope this gives you some more insight into why some teams go wide.
