Richo the ruckman
« on: May 09, 2007, 10:43:29 PM »
For all those who have wanted Richo to play in ruck permanently then we'll see him as first ruck this week according to SEN. Good luck against Brogan and Lade  :help.

I must have missed that Damien Monkhurst is our ruck coach this year.

Gotta say around the ground Richo is good value as a ruckman. In the actual contests he struggles and I reckon thats where we need to our set-up better - we need to set up to get the ball from the Power rucks taps

See it's that easy  :rollin

l prefer to see Pattison & Polak share the Ruck & play Richo at CHB picking up Lade & Brogan when resting forward
Put young McGuane on Tredra & leave him there all night long let him be introduced to league footy the way they used too
l got this bad feeling of Richo doing a hammy playing in the ruck it just dont sit well with me, not saying the big man cant do the job if put there his by far the best clubman we got with his heart in his mouth every week take the preasure off him of kicking goals & just getting the ball
Put J Bowden in the forward give him a break from the backline as he is losing the plot down there he worn too much preasure on bigger players far too long he just needs to be changed
Hughes at CHF & Kingleys at FF doing the damage with Krakouer & Deledio at there feet with Tuck & Petifier while White & Tivendale on each wing pumping it forward if not having some long shots themselves l'm sure we can knock Port off cause this week they will be playing for the jumper & there futures

Richardson to ruck
10 May 2007   Herald-Sun
Gareth Trickey

RICHMOND has turned to spearhead Matthew Richardson to help solve its ruck crisis.

The Tigers, who are desperate to turn around their form after Sunday's embarrassing 157-point loss to Geelong, go into Saturday's game against Port Adelaide without injured ruckmen Troy Simmonds (ankle), Trent Knobel (ankle) and Ray Hall (hip).

The dearth of ruckmen could hardly have come at a worse time, with Richmond facing a formidable opponent in last year's All-Australian ruckman Brendon Lade.

The Tigers sit second last in the league for hitouts with 146 this season. Port ruckman Lade has managed 139 alone.

The Power (210) are third for hitouts behind Sydney (277) and Geelong (226).

And it gets worse for Richmond. Lade's sidekick Dean Brogan is a strong chance to return after being sidelined for the past three matches with an ankle injury.

Richmond football operations manager Paul Armstrong said Richardson (12 hitouts for the season) would help carry the ruck load this weekend.

"It looks like Simmonds will miss this weekend and with Knobel and Hall out as well, we're short of ruckmen," Armstrong said. "Richo has played that role in parts in the last couple of weeks.

"There will no doubt be times when he will have to do that sort of thing again."

Richardson spent the last half of training yesterday working with ruck coach Damian Monkhorst.

jackstar has mentioned this a few times in threads this yr about monkey(hippo) being our ruck coach

u wont recognise him mt, he is no longer a bean pole, he is a huge overweight salami, and how can he ruck coach when he himself cant get off the ground

alessio was a far better option
