Injuries - Richo and Polo
« on: May 18, 2007, 10:57:20 PM »
Polo's shoulder popped out but they put it back in again. They are hoping he'll be okay for next week. Apparently Polo demanded to go back on again. Gutsy stuff :clapping.

Richo might have some concussion as well as a blood nose and cut head.

Richo going off cost us any decent chance of winning.

He was causing them big problems.

Shultz was Fu&*ing crap, he has to be dropped along with Pettifer.

drop Tuck and Jackson before those two.

Another unfit performance by the captain.
His CV rate is a joke.

Agree Ox,

Johnson was a disgrace.

Jackson is no good and Tuck is also has no idea. Too many turn overs.

Richo a suspected fractured eyesocket
Plough and Ch7 said Richo has a suspected fractured eye socket. X-rays tonight. At least 4-6 weeks or more if he does  :(

Polo had a dislocated shoulder. He's had shoulder instability before so he knew what to do and they popped it in. Scans this week to see if there's any damage.

It was friendly fire too  :-\.

Losing Richo will ironically hurt us more in the ruck and defence than up forward. Polak will have to ruck again to help out Patto when we need him down back against Lloyd, Lucas, Johns and either Hille or Laycock when they are resting. Robbing Peter to pay Paul again  :-\.

McGuane will have to come in or we move Sarge to defence. Jack and Cleve up forward. Kingsley could even get a game despite the outcries.

Injury curse claims Richardson (Herald-Sun)

Injury curse claims Richardson
19 May 2007   Herald-Sun
Mark Robinson

RICHMOND'S season plunged to new depths last night when it lost key forward Matthew Richardson for up to eight weeks with a suspected fractured eye socket.

Richardson was forced from the field at AAMI Stadium during a tense last quarter in which the winless Tigers levelled the scores before Adelaide hit back to register a nine-point win.

Richardson, who was rushed to hospital at the end of the game, was injured in the 14th minute. He dropped a mark and then had teammate Andrew Krakouer accidentally rake a boot across his face.

He left the field with blood pouring from his eye and nose.

Coach Terry Wallace remained upbeat despite another injury to his talls, but acknowledged Richardson's exit had swung the momentum of the game.

"Obviously Matthew going down hurt us and it had a big impact, and credit to them, they were able to steady and win the game," Wallace said.

"We think it's a fractured eye socket, so you'd say it's a 6-8 week injury. I'm not the surgeon, so we'll wait for what the reports says.

"But it's another tall, and another senior player, and that's been our lot this year.

"I don't know what we've done to deserve that lot, but that's where it is.

"The other thing is that we're losing senior players but it's allowing us to play other players within the structure."

Richardson joins other experienced players such as Trent Simmonds, Nathan Brown, Mark Coughlan, Ray Hall and Trent Knobel on the sidelines.

His expected two-month layoff soured what was a statement game from the Tigers last night.

Richo's injury looked bad with all that blood gushing down his face.  Good on Polo for coming back.  Should put Schultz in defence to help out when Polak is helping Patto in the ruck.  Riewoldt and Hughes to come in the forward line.  Wonder if Nathan Brown would be fit to play?  Or Kingsley?

Regarding Richo's injury, that will put back his 250th for a while.  Here I was umming and ahhing about whether to go on a ladies retreat the weekend that up until last night would have been Richo's 250th or fly down to Melb.  Now I know.

Not a criticism of Richo but we've often played better without him in the past.  I reckon we'll cope okay.
