They're charging $9 to see Browny play VFL ressies!

THE Northern Bullants will be heating the pies and hotdogs earlier than normal on Saturday in preparation for a cameo appearance from Richmond's Nathan Brown.

Although he is not used to kicking the dew off the ground, Brown will play about 40 minutes with the Coburg Tigers reserve side against the Bullants at Preston.

Northern Bullants general manager Garry O'Sullican said the club was expecting an earlier influx of fans to watch Brown's comeback game.

"We'll be ordering more pies, pasties and hotdogs and heating them earlier," O'Sullivan quipped. "And it's $9 to get in. We believe they will be plenty of people coming early to watch Browny in the game, which starts at 11.10am."

Brown, who broke his leg in two places in 2005, withdrew from the opening round game against Carlton after a "hot spot" was discovered just 2cm from the original break.

He had hoped to miss only up to the first four rounds.

Brown will be assessed today after getting through yesterday's training session with Richmond.

He will train again tomorrow, and if there are no last-minute hiccups, he'll play on Saturday.

Richmond football manager Paul Armstrong said last night there was every indication Brown would play in the Coburg's reserves.

"To a degree, you control what he does in the reserves," Armstrong said.

"Coburg seniors are going really well and for Browny it's only really game time and to get through a game, and it doesn't matter what level or the time he spends on the ground.

"And you can dictate that at reserve level at Coburg, without compromising their competitiveness in the game."

Armstrong said that if Brown got through the game he would have more game time the following week, but at what level had to be decided.

"We will just see how gets through," he said. "The plan is for him to play 40 or 50 minutes.

Richmond coach Terry Wallace will be at Preston to watch Brown.

Coburg's senior team will travel to Bendigo on Sunday to play the Bombers, while the Northern Bullants will clash with Geelong after the curtain raiser featuring Brown.

I went to see Richo play at Coburg when he was dropped - it was a great atmosphere - maybe 4 or 5 thousand turned up.

The opposition (Preston?) had ex Magpie Shane Watson standing in the space in front of Richo all day despite the fact that Coburg won by a huge margin. I think Richo got reported for wrestling - not sure. It was a great day. might go again to see Brownie.

Bullants are playing Geelong in the main game afterwards ... So $9 is the normal entry fee and free for kids ....

What I laugh at is in the EFL you can pay $6 to get into a 3 rd or 4 th division game but some sides in Div 1 or 2 have no fences so you get in for nothing  ???

If they are ordering extra pies and cooking them early I'm tipping the gate attendant might be asked to arrive a little bit earlier on Sat!

Volunteers - most VFL clubs rely on volunteers

Just noticed Hartigan too, why would they put him in the seconds?

Harts is coming back from his long-term foot injury.
