Wallace Poll
« on: June 04, 2007, 04:46:49 PM »
With all the Wallace bashing, about time we found out if ppl want him to stay.

Go for it!

I'm voting NO, because I reckon there isn't a coach around who could do better with our list as it currently stands.  Except for the Geelong game, we've been competitive in every game, which is not bad considering we've been without a key ruckman, Browny, Cogs etc.  With those players, or at least the ruck division, i reckon we might have won about 4 games by now.  Shiit happens, and this is our year for it, but don't want to sack a coach mid contract again, and have a new coach face the same problems.  Just not worth it.

Should he stay or should he go.?
If he wants the team to continue to kick sideways or backwards as there first option, he goes.
If he wants the team to play attacking football ala 2005 /2006, the club should honor his contract. Its that simple. Keep dishing up the crap each week and he will be out the door at the end of year. Saturdays night game was a disgracefull exhibition of football. I have never seen so many turnovers.

Moi

You need to get rid of the words "or should he go" and then it would make sense to the plebs.

I've fixed the question and reset the poll as those who voted yes might have now meant no :lol to the fixed question and vice versa. So vote again folks  :thumbsup.

I voted No (or was that yes Moi :lol) given injuries to a number of the few key players we have, our still out of balanced and young list and the $$$ it would cost to pay him out with 2 years to go. However for Terry's own sake he'll need to change things up over next summer (too difficult to do it now during the season) or in 18 months time the decision will be made for him.

Spud's greatest failure coaching wise was his inability to change and adapt over time. Plough has shown in the past he can mix things up and he needs to next preseason. The Club also needs to give him the resources to do so.
More pressure based drills -  both actual at main training and simulated outside of training to improve and quicken decision making.
More footskill based drills that improve depth and penetration of footpasses.
Getting trainers or duds like us in the stands to help out with high kicks for defenders to practice contesting rather than getting the players to do it and inadvertently learning bad kicking habits such as up and under kicks.
Add these things to a tweaking of the gameplan which encourages longer options to straighten us up and another year's maturity to our youngsters and I can see significant improvement in 2008.
