Tigers ready to take Brown plunge

RICHMOND is expected to announce today that star forward Nathan Brown will play his first game for the season against Melbourne at the MCG on Friday night.
While the Tigers were tight-lipped last night, Brown will join coach Terry Wallace for his weekly press conference today.
Brown was sidelined before Round 1 after a hot spot in the leg he broke more than two years ago flared.
Richmond football manager Paul Armstrong would not confirm a Brown return last night, but said the club had given him every opportunity to make himself available.
"He didn't play on the weekend because it was Sunday for a VFL game," Armstrong said.
"So, to give him every chance to be available for Friday night, we felt the five-day break was too short."
Brown has played two games in the VFL, the first in the reserves, to warm-up for his AFL return.
Armstrong said Brown was free of pain.
"The last two weeks he has been training and pulling up pain-free," he said.
It was against Melbourne in Round 10, 2005, that Brown snapped his lower leg in a tangle with Demon defender Matthew Whelan.
