Forward Scout: Richmond v Sydney Swans

THIS WEEK

Everyone has a lot of time for the Swans as a club and a footy team. So, our main goal is to get a win on the board against a good opposition on their home ground.

In round two, they got away from us in the last quarter as we were unable to go with their midfield. However, this time we are travelling together with a relatively young side for a couple of days which is going to provide us with a good opportunity to get a victory on the board.

SHAKING THE SYDNEY SWANS “TAG”

Clearances are going to be a key component to this weekend’s game. Fortunately, our clearances statistics for this year stack up well. So, I think we will be able to handle the type of game they have become well known for.

INJURED SWANS

We have prepared as though both Barry Hall and Tadhg Kennelly will play –it is the better than being under prepared. We have put a lot of time and respect into the opposition, but, the way we go about our game this weekend is going to be our main focus.

OUR FRAME OF MIND

Our frame of mind has been pretty good. We have had an excellent week and changed a couple of things, subtly. We have also put a bit of ownership back onto the players and how they go about things and take control of their own actions, so to speak. It all comes at a good time with a young side going interstate to be challenged and determine where we stack up.

When last we met:

Richmond v Sydney Swans at the MCG, round two, 2007:

Swans 13.10 (88) to the Tigers 11.6 (72).

WIN PERCENTAGE

Richmond v Sydney Swans: 56.46 per cent (Tigers)

Richmond v Sydney Swans at the SCG: 50 per cent

KB is disappointed Hyde, Tivs and Schulz aren't in the side.

Some Tigers stats:
Hitouts: 16th (Swans 1st)
Clearances: 16th  (Swans 1st)
Tackles: 16th (Swans 3rd)

Polak on Barry Hall. Sounds like we're going man-on-man.

Understatement of the year that we need a ruckman.

Connors won't want to remember his first kick  :P

The matchups are terrible - we don't have the cattle.
Umps don't help when you see a blatant deliberate out of bounds not paid.

Go Kel Moore - Goal

Swans are working a million times harder. They can stuff around and play cute and still have time to find targets ::).

Quarter time. 7 points down.

A lot closer than it could have been. Good last 5 minutes. Young blokes like Edwards got us back into the game. Amazing what happens when you work hard as a team  ::). We had 14 of the last 17 tackles. Leading the hitouts, clearances and inside 50s so doing okay there. Sounds like we are going to Richo to often though.

The way they came back was good, it knocked a bit of the cockiness out of the Swans who thought they could do anything in the first 15 minutes (and they did).  Give them something to think about.

Still a huge ask!
