Yeah or Neah - 19. Tim Fleming
« on: July 30, 2004, 03:13:36 AM »
As the season is now about judging who stays or goes at the end of the year, thought we might have a look at each player who is on a knife's edge and get opinions until the end of the season.

Fleming's skills may let him down but it's hard to dispute his attitude, commitment and hard at the footy style especially as we lack hard-nuts in our side. We've got him as out of contract at the end of the year so if that so should Timmy get a new one-year contract or do we say if he's not going to be around in a couple of years we should delist in 5 weeks time?

Its hard to see him in the future plans for RFC but as things currently stand he deserves another year. I'd gladly shaft a silky yet lazy footballer the likes of Blumfield or Houlihan before a desparado like Flem.

Without hesitation - KEEP

More guts, desperation and mongrel than a lot of others who spend most of their time just going through the motions.

i'd rather Fleming in our leadership group than what is at present, he has heart something we really lack week in week out!

Fleming knows he is lucky to be at an AFL club, and is making the most of his opportunity.  Which is more than you can say for some more talented players. On that basis, he deserves another go, ahead of others.

Having a player of such calibre is the reason why we continue to struggle on-field. There is no place for players of this ilk.....

Yes there are others to go but the guy couldnt play for Carlton when they were rock bottom and he walks into our side....disgraceful!

If we had a normal coaching staff he wouldnt be there!

Yeah, he is a very unRichmondlike player - players who give their all like Timmy does don't belong at the Tiges  ::)

That's right he doesn't belong - it is more overpaid, underperforming players we need (e.g. Blumfield)  :gobdrop

Yeah and Andy Goodwin was a great player as well because he was hard........

You guys cant be serious about him....I garuntee that if Wallace was to be named coach, Flem would be one of the first to go. Is it just me or does he just get burned for pace everytime? Its not because he is slow its because he is swinging his arms and head and he is sprinting on the spot.

No good.....get the broom out.

It might be just you - or you might have people who agree with you.  But I'd have a team full of Tim Flemings - make an awesome attacking unit.

Seriously though, how can you justify this guy and his attacking ability when:
a) He never wins a one-on-one;
b) He cant kick;
c) He cant run;
d) He gives away stupid free-kicks.....
e) Has no football smarts.

Yeah he is hard, but he cant control that hardness at the ball in a way where its useful. He should take a look at a young kid by the name of Jackson now thats hard....

If we could de-list all the players that need to be moved on then Fleming would be one.  But you can only de-list 13 and there's no certainty we will be able to move on that many, for various reasons.

So, if it comes down to a choice between who to de-list, trade or whatever, others would go ahead of him.

I don't disagree with what you're saying om21 and would delist Fleming probably next year when we've filled our list with another two draft's worth of talented kids. However at this stage although his skills are ordinary he at least attacks the contest ferociously and gets the ball. Others who we've named in the  "should go" category on OER although they are more skilled than Fleming waste their supposed skill with a lack of urgency and poor decision making. It's no point having skill if you can't get your hands on the pill.
