JOEL Bowden stood strong against Collingwood’s Anthony Rocca on Friday night in Richmond’s win the MCG.

One effort in particular stood out. Bowden spoiled an attempted Rocca mark and then followed up with a strong tackle on Paul Medhurst, dragging him to the ground and was rewarded with a free kick.

Bowden’s persistence not only contributed to the Tigers’ victory but also earned him a nomination for this week’s AFL Army Award.

Tiger fans can watch Bowden’s fantastic play and vote for him at:

New to the 2007 season, the Army Award aims to recognise and reward the one-percent style acts such as game breaking smothers, tackles and shepherds.
