The best thing(s) about tonight
« on: August 26, 2007, 08:36:00 PM »
The cubs stood up under pressure in front of a big crowd (so did our senior players finally which helped).

Keep the faith  :thumbsup

moore proved he is worth keeping

same as jackson

richo once again made an honest man out of me, 100% effort, 30% reward
richo must play outside 50, no place for him inside 50

joel bowden showed he isnt soft and can play

but

the best thing about tonight was............
Kane Johnsons game and captaincy, he must play atthis level week in and week out. yep he was a treat tonight

How on earth we won after squandering so many chances and having Lloyd and Hird made untouchable by the umps is beyond me. A credit to the players the way they kept battling and didn't pack it in when the pressure was on.

Sorry have to disagree with you all.

The best part was that we pumped the Essendon scum and they had to sit there until the end of the game and watch it all so they could see Hird and Sheeds do their lap of honour.

Should have won by 15 goals not 5. A wins a win though.

That was the MCC too  :gobdrop right infront of us

Best thing aimed squarely at Jackoffasaur is the future of the 2 clubs were clearly on show.

Best game of the year from Kane Johnson.

Great for the kids to win a game in front of so many people.

Great that we didn't capitulate given the gravity of the situation, we got one back tonight and it was great. :thumbsup

Moore looked composed and played well. McGuane was excellent, and Thursty played well also.

Deledio played his best game ever and the older guys stood up and played the way leaders should.

Was some bloke dressed as Santa and got thrown out?

On the news it said a guy was hit over the head with a bottle and 6 people are under police investigation.

the future of the 2 clubs were clearly on show.
If Essendon's home ground was the MCG they would be down the bottom of the ladder with us.  Playing at the Dome has covered up their lack of pace and aging bodies. Worst still for them is their best player won't be around after next week.

History says when one of Richmond/Essendon is having a successful era the other is down in the doldrums. Tonight was a change of eras.

Totally agree CUB
The changing of the guard occurred tonight.
The demise of a crumbling failing empire and the rise of a resourceful committed one.
Our histories in terms of success have spanned generations but never really at the same time. With all the geriatrics running around for the Bummers and all our Cubs going forward we are streets ahead of them as apart from Stanton and Ryder they have no decent kids coming through.
For me watching this demise and having us inflict this mortal final wound brought me the greatest satisfaction. Once Fletcher Lloyd Lucas go the future will bring grim pain and long drought and pestilence for the Bombers.

I AM VERY PROUD TO BE A RICHMOND SUPPORTER TONIGHT. :thumbsup

last nights win, rates as one of richmonds best in modern history. the stage was set for the bombers, the crowd was 80% bombers, and not only were teh bombers sending off and farewelling the two greatest bomber people in essendon history, they were playing for a possible chance to play in finals.

the bombers had everything to play for and the tigers had not just a physical battle ahead of them, but a huge psychological battle.

the bombers woudl have beebn so pumped up 4 that game but the the tigers gave it to them!

sheedy kept going on about how their team was yopung, sorry sheeds, the bombers had much more experience out there than us!

well done tigers, at least we can salvage something out of this season
