Avoid the Spoon or Priority Pick?
« on: August 26, 2007, 10:20:55 PM »
A win next week would get us off the bottom the ladder and avoid the spoon; a loss secures us a priority pick in the draft.

What to do?

Gotta try and develop a win at all costs mentality in the team - definitely go for the win.

Carlton win - Avoid the spoon.

Dees win - Get the priority.

I'd love to see Carlton come last AGAIN.  :lol

I dont really care about the Dees.

Pity we play before them!

I hate the spoon though and Im flying over to watch the game next week so I'm going to be a selfish and say win rather than the best result for the club draft-wise and lose.  :shh

Carlton beat the Dees
We lose to the Saints
This is the what "must" occur next weekend.

Priority pick. That has been our agenda from very early on this season.
Lets not sway from this now that we have reached the finish line slightly in front.
We have won our two Grand Finals against Scumwood and Scumdon and that in itself should provide a positive impetus going into 2008. An "honourable" loss next week and that sought after priority pick just makes the launch pad for that impetus for 2008 and beyond just a little more positive. :thumbsup

do we still get a priority pick? i thought the priority pick was now decided over 2 seasons and 8 wins or less over that period.  i thought we just get opportuniity for 1st pick if the blues win?
or have i missed something?

I want a win, I hate the thought of losing, and especially going out to deliberately lose :gotigers

Yeah I'd rather have a win and not get the wooden spoon, even if it means we don't get first pick.

As it stands we still get a priority pick at the end of the first round (pick 17 or 18) before round 2 commences. If we win, weose that pick for winning more than 4 games (I think), plus move up above the loser of Melbourne  and Carlton. FWIW, Iwould rather a winning feeling to end the season even though I know it will cost us an exta kid in the top 20. It is a flaw in the system hat we must makeourselves lose to gain.  :banghead
My parents bought me a Richmond jumper and enrolled me in a junior footy clinic in 1981...look at me now.

Lets no get carried away here, yesterday we played a team that reminded me of us 2 years ago, shi'te but played above themselves.

Next week we play a team that has owned us for a good while now.

It'll be a different story though if Adelaide win on Friday night, then the 8 is settled straight away. Saints will have nothing to play for.

As it stands we get pick 2 if we finish bottom or 15th. Carlton will not win.
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do

Carlton have the draft pick reguardless they have control over the situation

if they want a spoon stuffing give it too them as beating the saints is what l want
l'm still humiliated after frawley had us line up and clap off Burke after they pumped the poo out of us at the Dome a few years ago something l will never forget

PUMP THE SAINTS

if we dont we we wont get anything for our lose & we will be classed as poo for getting another spoon a tag not good for kids or sponsors or supporters
we will finish with #2 pick reguardless of the ladder 16th or 15th
& the bonus is we kill the Saints Finals hopes ;D

We all know Carlton is gonna tank and get the PP, so we should go all out for the win and avoid the wooden spoon.

We have a bad record against the Saints, so it'll be good to get a win against them and finish the season with a win  :gotigers
On victory we strive. Eat 'em alive!
