Good luck to Matty Knights even though he is with the enemy now.
I just feel he has been thrown in the deep end as those who Essendon
preferred to actually coach them were eliminated eventually (Williams and Bomber).
This appointment is much in the same vein as us in 1999 when Geishen left
and one by one the candidates went to other clubs as we were waiting for
Sheeds to come home. We then picked up Spud as he seemed to be the only
candidate left as those with more credentialls went
Thompson- Geelong
Schwab- Hawthorn
Ayres - Adelaide
Collingwood - Malthouse
West Coast - Judge
Anyway I think he has big shoes to feel in both the name and the era that Sheeds presided over and the most pleasing thing for me will be this if it occurs. After watching a tiger lead Essendon to on field success for the best part of 20 years
I'll be watching another tiger continuing on Sheeds legacy over the last 4 seasons of his tenure and watching the Bombers systematically categorically failing both on and off the field.
