How long will we give Wallace?
« on: August 02, 2004, 03:10:26 AM »
Given it's official, how long will we give Terry Wallace to turn things around and what criteria will we judge his coaching?

Time to put up before we start bagging him :lol

I expect finals next year  :lol :lol

Seriously, the one thing that I think we will get is a competitive effort every week - he did it with the dogs and I believe he will bring that to the Tigers.

I am thinking 1st year pain with a bit of gain 12-9, 2nd year between 9-7 and after that who knows

I reckon if they stick to the re-build and bringing on the kids - he'll get as munch support as any Tiger Coach

Ha ha you crack me up Ox. lmao. :lol :lol :lol

I think if we look at the Saints it will be rougly 3 years to get us back on track with some new blood , develop our young guns and actually have a gameplan that is competitve and not predictable impressed upon the players thought patterns.
I think Plough will defnitely clean out players and make everyone more accountable.
He will probably make decisions about players that some of us will query and get ticked off about.
Fact is he has the experience and got a bit of mongrel into the team that he coached, something which we desperately need as I have heard nothing but pissy little purring sounds coming from the once Ruthless Tigers.

I expect to miss next year but I wont be surprised if we make it......
Definately the year after, thats 2 years to turn over a list and 2 pre-seasons to drill his ways.....

When your a competitive unit, you can somehow somewhere grind out results, that is what Im looking for next year.

Gee this has been a fun day -  :rollin

I must say that the fact that both Denham and Smith have written about it gives it a bit more "credibility" (though that's not the right word :-\) because Patrick wouldn't have bothered unless he thought it was right - only flies on the coat tails if it is safe :shh :thumbsup

I am not use to all these positives - scary  ;)

It would be a huge risk on the part of Denham and Smith to go out on a limb like this if there wasn't some truth to it. Add to that Casey's comment this morning and that makes me think we have got our man.

Anyway if it is Wallace, I'll firstly expect us to go for youth, youth and youth in the National draft and only use the PSD to pick up experienced player(s). Based on that there shouldn't be much of a change results wise next year as the kids find their feet at AFL level although I'm expecting the style of footy to be more competitive, spirited, positive and attractive to watch. After the 2005 draft, with further talent added to our list and the final duds gone, we should begin our climb back up the ladder in 2006 and as RR says by 2007 we should be going for a finals spot. This should then be backed up in 2008, etc as we haven't made successive finals for 30 years. We should then be in a position to challenge for a flag(s) over a period of years. Sounds easy  :thumbsup.

Well after Saturday's result picks 2 & 4 are looking good.

Wouldn't trade pick 2 for anything and would only consider trading pick 4 for Judd. Youth is the way to go and as I said - if we stick to the re-build policy all of us will be supportive of the new coach (well almost all of us ;D)

I wonder if Mr Pahoff is going to refuse to renew his Membership if Terry Wallace is appointed ??? Sign Terry for 10 years please :lol :rollin :lol :rollin
