Cotchin should be allowed to make the call on his future. I reckon he has earnt that

But I also hope he doesn't go a season too many.

Over the past few years we've seen some players go one season too long and it's been hard to watch them

Don't want that to happen to Trent

He deserves a job as development coach for the youngsters coming through. Can teach them one on one how to be Richmond men playing the Richmond way.

The team would have players coming through that know what it takes to play in the Richmond jumper and the gym and club rooms would also be spotless clean.  :rollin

Out of all the vets, cotch is the one who has shown the strongest from to be going around next year so not sure what old mate mick is watching.

Maybe unpopular opinion. But thought Cotch was good today. Had 24 and most contested possessions. Cotch plays next year if he wants too. Part of me wishes he doesn't mainly cause I don't think our window is open anymore and would love him to finish on top rather than finish the way Edwards is finishing.

The fact that our 32 yo who broke his collarbone 3 weeks ago was our best contested player says a bit about our intent today.

Was good today

Agree an indictment on others that he showed more intent in hunting the ball and the conteet

Up to him if he wants to play on. Would be a great mentor for someone like Sonsie.

One of our best today although I am too angry to think and vote clearly he'd be up there.

Also very clearly our best leader by a Flemington or two.

I only watched the first half and I thought he and Tarrant were our best. But the way north we’re scoring with ease from stoppages is on our midfield so cotchin must put his hand up there.

If I were making the call based on performances this season only and pushing away all the great times the legends have given us, I would only give cotch the 1 year contract. Sheds, jack and lambo to ride off into the sunset.

Well well well wonders will never cease. I agree. Not a bad return from a 32 year old coming off a colar bone.

What we need is a genuine big bodied hand on it first mid who can take a load off cotchin and Prestia.
We don't have the midfield depth or young mids coming thru to just get rid of Cotchin. Would be handy very handy even in a limited role if we could just find some help for him.

Not even about not having other options. I genuinely think his performances this season easily warrant an extension if he so chooses to play on. If you see my comments in the Jack R thread, I wouldn’t be doing the same for him even with the lack of options we have.

Ain't that the truth. Should get close if he goes around once more.

Might be right - especially as Lambert seems gone. So, Riewoldt, Edwards & Lambert all go at the end of this year, it might be important for Cotch to eke out another year.

Not to mention all the talk about Dusty heading to Sydney.
