Yeah or Neah: 24. Mark Coughlan

Next up is Cogs. Of course missed all the year after infamously redoing his ACL slipping in the shower way back in January. He's just started back training in the last few weeks.

Should we keep or trade our 2003 B&F?

mmhmm if the right offer came up.

But I really doubt it would so bite the bullet, put everything behind him and hope he makes a triumphant return.  :gotigers

There is not a chance in living hell of trading this kid with 2 knee recos and no service record since. He gets another year. By the end of next year we are going to know exactly where we are at with this fellow.

I tend to agree with RodgerRJ.

After missing the best part of 2 (make it nearly 3) years of footy since he won the B&F - there are massive question marks on whether anyone would be interested and if there are clubs that are how much they think he is worth. If (and it is a huge IF) another club were prepared to give a up a first round pick for him you'd be crazy not to consider it

Having said that.....

I reckon he's a keep for 2008

Keep for sure. Any trade offer will be low for obvious reasons, better to keep him and see what he can do. Our biggest deficiency IMO is inside midfield depth and quality. If he can get back to a good standard it will be a huge boost and it will make our outside guys better.

After two knee recos, bad ankles & OP, Cogs unlikely to return to his best unfortunately.

Keep but on a one year deal only.

some people reckon'd that browny wouldn't come back because of his horrendous leg break and complications, but looks like he might be slowly hitting top form again.

of course cogs is in a differnet boat as he has had multiple injury problems, but still reckon he has something offer to the club

Agree RR. This time next year Cogs will either be forced into retirement (touchwood that doesn't happen) or we would've witnessed one of the best returns to footy. If anyone can make it back it'll be Cogs. Mental toughness and determination plus. Keep on a one-year performance based deal.

Brian Royal RFC player review

Mark Coughlan

He is one of our most important players and his second knee reconstruction was obviously devastating for him. Obviously, we are really looking forward to him being back in the side next year.

Hawks' Chris Pelchen on Cogs (and Selwood)

Joel Selwood - Pelchen said the guy looked the goods now but he still thought his career would be cut short by a debilitating knee injury, which is similar to that suffered by Mark Coughlan from the Tigers. Pelchen said that when they he was at the Power they stayed away from the highly talented Coughlan because of his knee condition, and that decision has been vindicated.
