Wallace pulls out of race for Adelaide job

Former Western Bulldogs coach Terry Wallace has told Adelaide he is not interested in coaching the club next season.

The Crows spoke to Wallace last week but he has now indicated he does not want to move to Adelaide.

Wallace is the current frontrunner for the vacant coaching positions at Richmond and Hawthorn.

Interim Crows coach Neil Craig is likely to be appointed to the position full-time for the next two years.

Me thinks someone is close to making a decision.

Talking footy mentioned about Terry knocking back Adelaide as well although Hutchy isn't such a reliable source. Nothing new except they said Terry is concerned about the roles of Dunstall and Brereton at Hawthorn. Knows they both have alot of say in things.

Hutchy also mentioned again that we've offered Wallace 4 years and basically the run of the place.

Parkin said that Wallace would be concerned about the political upheavial at Hawthorn and not knowing who he'll be dealing with with Don Scott lurking in the background.

Hawthorn are in the exact same position we were in a week ago with an imminent threat to the board and it was reported that Wallace didn't want to make a decision about Richmond with that scene the way it was. If Wallace now picks the Hawks with them in a possible board spill then we will all know that those earlier comments about stability were all crap. With the current scene at the Hawks we must be in front.

Terry still has another meeting with the Hawks, but it would be devastating if they were to come over the top of us now.

And those journos at the Australian could have a lot to answer for by messing with Richmond supporters’ emotions if things go the other way.

But if Terry has had reservations about the Hawks to now, based on his previous meetings with them and also about the roles of Brereton and Dunstall, then another meeting wouldn’t sway him.  Unless of course they spring something massive on him.  However, if he has already agreed, in principle, to come to Richmond then I think we are safe and to change his mind now would be for all the wrong reasons.  That’s what I’m telling myself anyway.

Patrick Smith tried to qualify his statements today and give himself an out by saying we have a verbal agreement with Wallace however as he hasn't signed anything Hawthorn could still pinch Wallace by offering him heaps of money  ::).
