The Terry Wallace Sweepstakes
« on: August 04, 2004, 07:57:50 AM »
I watched the start of Talking Footy last night to get my daily dose of the Terry Wallace Sweepstakes ;D

Craig Hutchison said that Richmond were the slight favourites in the sweepstakes. He said he thought the odds were:

"Richmond 6 to 4 on"

With "Hawthorn 6 to 4 or 5 to 4" (these Hutchy odds were given at 5 to 11  :lol)

As I am not a gambler could someone please explain to me the difeerence between "6 to 4 on" and "6 to 4"?

And feel free to give me your odds in the sweepstakes :lol

WP, "on" means it's less than even money which is 1/1.

1/1 means for each dollar you bet you receive another dollar = $2.00 you get back per dollar bet. Percentage wise it means the horse has a 50% chance of winning (1 out of 2 (1+1) )

So 6/4 on means 4/6 = you receive another $4 for every $6 you bet. So that's $1.67 back per dollar bet. 60% chance (6 out of 10 (4+6))

5/4 or 6/4 is then another $5 or 6 for every $4 you bet. ($2.25 and $2.50 respectively back per dollar bet. In percentage terms 4 from 9 chance = 44% and 4 from 10 chance = 40% respectively.)

Hope that makes some sense!  :)

So Hutchy was saying it's 60/40 in Richmond's favour.

So all that means the good money is on Wallace coming to Tigerland.  :cheers

We should have a prize for the day and time our new coach is appointed - and who it will be.

I reckon Wallace will be appointed next Thursday, 12/8? at 2.00pm lol

I'll go for Tuesday 11am with the typical shot of the new coach Wallace sitting in front of the tiger head and skin.

I reckon Wednesday 11/8 at 11.59pm at a hastily organised press conference at Glenferrie. He'll front with Dunstall and Dermie, give them the bird, announce he's coaching Richmond, then strip off and dance on the table. Shortly after he'll explode. That will end the process.
