Would be very dissapointed if we drafted a kid that skinny. There is every chance he will put on weight and I am sure he is a very good footballer, but we have so few players with any real physical presence. By drafting a few bigger bodies I reckon you get that little bit more aggression, due to the kids being able to give better than they got throughout the junior ranks.

he is no skinnier or smaller than kruezer. give the kid a break they are just kids and cannot start off as tanks

all you ppls that think cotchin is ready to play afl, think again, he is injury prone and a skinny kid himself, in the pics i have see and footage i have seen he has alot of development ahead of him also

kids are kids and cale has more upside than cotchin

by the way, cale has already played against bigger bodies, cotchin has mainly only played school footy. imo, nothing to brag about

FYI,

WAFL = no body contact for flankers such as Morton

the grounds are so big that running players adapt with such ease because they have plenty of space to run in and can avoid excessive contact.

Anyway Morton has only played a handful of senior games so nothing to brag about their either  ::)

And with Cotchin, so what if he has injuries, the great man Judd probably had bigger injury concerns pre-drafting but would you turn him down now, of course you wouldn't cos hindsight is a great thing isn't it. IIRC Judd and Luke Ball also played a heap of school footy as opposed to representative footy because they were tied to commitments to their schools, but both are still guns at AFL level.

He is definitely skinnier.

Kreuzer is listed as 92 kg in the Vic Metro squad, Morton is listed as 75 kg. Pretty conclusive.

As far as putting on weight goes, with good S&C training it is likely to happen, although there are enough examples at RIchmond over the years to suggest that our S&C training isn't the best and also that for some kids it just doesn't happen.

But what I am talking about is drafting blokes who are physically tough and have a bit of mongrel about them because they have come through the ranks being a little bit bigger than the others.

This is purely a mental thing.

Have a look at Glen Archer in 1992.

Considering the size of players then, he was pretty well built for a 19 y.o.

how did brett deledio bulk up inside 2 years ... because the lads a winner and he wants to be a success. Its easy to blame the club and say no facilities no this no that...its all crap, North dont have facilities, i reckon some of our players are lazy and dont want it enough.

Cale Morton – Claremont, WA

“I'm a bit buggered at the moment [after running a Draft Camp best level 15 shuttle two – 15.2], but I'm glad I've got the beep test out of the way and now I've got the three-kilometre time trial on Friday, which I'm looking forward to.

“I got 15.4 [earlier this week, but I've had a sore throat since Tuesday morning, so I was a bit put off, but I managed to get through it.

“I enjoyed the fitness and the running and I'm looking forward to getting my body up for the three-kilometre time-trial."

meh, would have thought that was the stock standard response. Trying to sound determined but humble.

anyways, Morton is a good talent, would not be dissapointed at all to take him but cotchin is still my man (but not in that way  ;))

Usually the heights and weights of the draftees are made public but not this year  ???. It would be useful to know if any of them are still growing. Kreuzer is a 1/2 cm taller since the U18 champs. Morton is one you would want to know if there have been any increases in height and weight given his U18 champs figures were 192cm & 75kg.
