The Browny trade 4 years on?
« on: October 16, 2007, 08:11:59 PM »
We gave up basically pick 6 (Kepler Bradley) and Ben Holland to get Browny. Pick 20 was also involved. We gained pick 20 from the Dees for Holland and then traded it to the Dogs who ontraded it to West Coast who drafted Sam Butler.

How do we rate the trade 4 years on with the delisting of Bradley?

I think we are better off despite the time Browny has missed with injury.
Holland very slow cumbersome been okay at best for Melbourne.
Butler  :whistle
Bulldogs  :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
Bradley I don't think was that bad. Sure he copped some hidings at full back one most memorably by Richo but I always felt he would have been better off being played in a Kouta type role. Thought Sheeds played the boy out of position and he was made a scapegoat by fans who were used to winning more often than not once the rot finally set in. Nevertheless he has been delisted and that is that so right now we are better off.
1. Browny

Holland and Bradley
Butler

Browny still has alot to offer and is blessed with skill and football nous to boot.
Something we do not have in abundance at this point in time.Browny will be a new
man with a full pre season behind him again and no injury worries plus a team on the improve. 2004 we were a team in denial in decline in decay.

Browny was a top choice just unlucky for his injury but you can see the silky skills he got still
Kep Bradley is a good footballer just handled wrong should do well at a team like Richmond or Fremantle

You can't account for injury. Great footballer, great to have around the club, great for the kids. We are a better team with him in the side. Win.

It turned out the 2003 draft was one of the weakest of recent times so it was a rare time we gained from trading away a good pick.

The key was we also traded away a player that was overvalued in the market.

Browny showed up how substandard our "top 6" players were compared to other clubs. At full flight he's shown the level our youngsters need to aim for. If he hadn't broken his leg this trade would've been a huge win.
