Tommy Hafey still going strong
« on: November 13, 2007, 06:26:13 AM »

Leading the "ageing actively" push is AFL legend and 76-year-old fitness fanatic Tom Hafey.

After his morning routine of an 8km run, 200 push-ups, 700 sit-ups, an ocean swim and weightlifting, Hafey yesterday told seniors they had to make the most of every day.

"Get negativity out of your system and be as positive as you can possibly be," Hafey said. "Enjoy what you are doing because you are dead a long time."

Hafey joined Australian Psychological Society president Amanda Gordon in releasing results of the survey, which she said underlined positive attitudes to ageing led to good health.

I reckon i'd look like that after just 10 sit-ups, let alone an 8k run and the push-ups.  :lol

Hafey is an inspiration.  No wonder he was a legend.

Used to go down Beach Road every morning and about 6.30 I'd see Tommy walking across the road.  No matter if it was in the middle of an icy cold morning, here'd Tommy be walking down the street in his Speedos lol.
Legend  :thumbsup

I hope that's just a typo 3121  ;D

I think he is a legend

Tommy would still probably love to coach if given the chance. Didn't he offer after Geisch got the flick?

I believe he voluntarily did. In hindsight would've been a better choice than the Cherry Ripe Yeahing and Nahing.
