Melbourne Demons selling raffle tickets on a card table outside Safeways in Bentleigh!
Is fundraising that hard these days that they have to resort to that?

Makes you wonder as one of the original VFL clubs with such wealthy MCC supporters, 12 flags and such massive success in the 40's, 50's and early-mid 60's, how they ended up with such a low supporter base and poor finances requiring the AFL drip and selling home games interstate. I know they have done stuff all since 1964 apart from making two GFs but we've done even less since 1980 and still kept hold of our large supporter base.

what do they represent, rfc has been crap for 25 years but atleast we know what we are, Richmond was is a great suburb, I grew up in Richmond, the suburb was poor, heaps of migrant families working hard, there wasnt alot of money around the place, the one successful thing we had was the RFC, a working class club that had the spirit to be inclusive of migrants whilst keeping its history in check. Working class, Yellow and Black success. What does Melbourne represent? There supporters say they represent the city of Melbourne, but so does every other club in town, there supporters are seen as toffs, but so are Carlton and Essendon. They have no real boundaries, theyve had no real home- thats why there stuffed. Just my opinion ...and no this time im not taking the pee, I reckon if Melbourne didnt have the name its got, they would have got the arse out of the comp a long time ago.

Yep Melbourne may still yet get the relocation boot out of Victoria. They do sell home games to Brisbane and the Gold Coast and only make a "profit" after including the CBF handout. I think that CBF handout runs out soon. If the Roos don't move up to the Gold Coast then the AFL may look at the Dees. Their supporters are the only ones to have agreed to a merger so the resistance is less than at other Vic clubs.

Nah, couldn't happen.
There'd be a bunfight between their supporters and the polar bears at Sea World over who gets the fake snow.

"The" original Aussie Rules club. I reckon they'd get bailed out of trouble somehow.
