MELBOURNE clubs will fight it out for next season's wooden spoon while another Geelong premiership is almost unbackable.
According to TAB Sportsbet, there are few who can challenge the Cats at the top and the Tigers at the bottom in 2008.
Essendon, Western Bulldogs, Kangaroos, Melbourne and Carlton are among the bottom lines of betting, along with the Tigers.
It might be a surprise, but TAB Sportsbet's Gary Davies said his football experts could find no reason why the Demons would not struggle again next season.
"We just felt they were very poor towards the end of last year, and we honestly can't see where they are going to improve," Davies said.
"Carlton will improve, and Richmond has signed a few players (Jordan McMahon, Trent Cotchin), but Melbourne just seems the team most likely."
The Cats have shortened into $3.20 favourites, with Collingwood, Fremantle, Port Adelaide and Hawthorn the next most fancied.
Carlton's boom recruit, Chris Judd, is still the Brownlow Medal favourite at $10, followed by Gary Ablett, Jonathan Brown and former teammate Daniel Kerr.
