if anyone in the whole world has the cred to compare the north melbourne era with our young group its Miller.
he's the one who would know more than anyone else about the subject.
he's the one who was there.
he's the one that was part of it.
he's the one who made a major contribution to building that side.
i ask all you internet experts, who else would be more qualified to do the comparison?
True blx it's a preseason fluff piece but North in the early 90's was a different era. Many of that North group had already played together as juniors in successful North U19 premiership sides under Pagan (we were their main U19 rivals btw but it never equated to success for us at senior level like it did at North). North also had the luxury in the early 90's of a larger and stronger albeit underachieving senior core for their youngsters to develop around and won more games than they loss in every year of the 90's bar 1992. I guess one thing we can take heart in is that North side also got pumped by 150 points at one stage as did the baby bombers. Pagan took control of his former joeys from sacked Schimma after that humiliating loss, a 21 year old Carey was made captain and they made the finals and never looked back. Grant Thomas was also made chairman of North's match committee.
One reason supporters get irate is because they remember these fluff pieces and promises. Such as the one where Miller said prior to 2005 that we would be challenging by 2007

. Some supporters might have a peanut for a brain but they have the memory of an elephant lol

. True the positive from these comments is it gets the RFC publicity and media attention and gets everyone talking about us; the negative though is these silly comments eventually get chucked back in our faces at the end of the year.
