Summary
* Joked how everyone is flying (looking at the Herald-Sun)
* We're doing things slightly different to the NAB 15 thing last year. Still the guys are as keen as ever.
* Tambo - where he is at?
Miller said he's a big fan of Richie. Boys out of Darwin take a little while longer to become settled and comfortable to produce all the armory in their possession. Some sections of RFC supporters and media have treated him poorly. The comparison with Franklin hurt him a bit last year. Unfair as the media were jumping up and down at draft time and then come out and say why did you draft him and he's not as good as Franklin. Scrutiny was tough. 20 years old listening to this and listening to it coming from the fans was tough. Miller believes he's done well so far. He's a leader and the things we saw in his armory at U18 level is emerging. His preseason has been outstanding so we're pleased with him.
* Agreed with the host that Tambo was classed No 1 by 8-10 clubs at 2004 draft time. We knew the certain qualities Franklin had and the concerns. Going at 5 was about right as far as where he was ranked at the time.
* Lids - is playing as a leading forward the way for him now given the success he had in that position in the last 4-5 weeks?
Yep he was excellent at it. That's not the only string to his bow. Has the capacity to play off HB or even through the midfield which is even better for him. He's not restricted to one position.
* No pressure at the moment in Jan but is the club feeling the heat considering where they finished?
No. It's been pretty low key (compared to all the articles on Carlton). We've got some quality men around the club (both on and off field) and when they get the right experience and bulk and everything else we'll have a very good side. When it's going to happen? No predicitions about this year but certainly in the years to come we couldn't be more pleased.
* A tactic to stay out of the media... no big predictions out of Punt Rd?
Yep when you finish 16th you don't have much to say. Have to show it on the field. Play St Kilda first up in the NAB Cup and Carlton round 1. Need to let our actions do the talking.
* Disappointing last year (Terry's 2011 media briefing). Backfired big time. Greg heard what Terry said in the room and some journos took their own take. Disappointing but you learn your lesson. Sometimes you can be too open.
* Expectations for this year? Make sure we do everything right around the footy club. Be patient and keep belief in what we're doing. We're all one down at the club.
* Craig Cameron starts in early Feb. We've added staff across the board which we needed to do. We were under-resourced and down to the bare-bones when Terry started. We now have a very professional off-field team to assist Terry and players.
* Craig's role is recruiting and list management. He'll do it with Greg. Greg admitted he'd probably been covering too many areas. So we first got Francis Jackson (outstanding). Craig adds a further dimension dealing with admin and the player managers. Greg will pass over some his work to Craig and they'll work together.
