One of our new leaders. What are your expectations for Petts this year and what would be a good return from him?

Minimum 30-40 goals

As a senior player with experience and in the leadership group 30-40 goals is a minimum and a big improvement in the one percenters on field also.

Please dear Lord, give him the strength to show some courage.
I am heartily sick of his pulling out of heavy contests and limp defensive and tackling efforts.

I know his goalkicking rate for a small forward is quite good, but for the sake of the side grow some cojones and take some punishment and have some pride in your jumper.

The rest l just wasted.

to get a spine and contest for the ball instead of shirking the issue.

You would like to see Petts show this new leadership role he's been handed on the field. Make the opposition worry about him instead of cameo performances in front of goal behind Richo and Browny. Hopefully he's continuing to build up his endurance to push further up field and have more influence on a game. Petts also kicked 26 goals in his last 11 games last year so he should be pushing for that kind of output over the whole year. Around 40-50 goals.

Seen the pullouts myself and they don't look good.
That said I sit on the fence and have seen him go in hard at at the ball and he definatly has the 'angry pills' look about him at times.
He has the potential to improve this perception 'a fair one' people have, but even 1 more of those pansy pullouts or dives may just see him labelled forever soft.

yep 30 - 50 goals

i hope he is one of those guys that rise to the occasion when appointed to a leadership role. That said 30 - 50 with a marked improvement in his defensive game and not diving would make me happy.

Is Petts unfairly still maligned now because of his first 4 or 5 years on our list?

Another 3 goals last night apparently and he was far from our worst against the Saints when he kicked 2.

BOG in some reports.  Just another example of how you need to be patient with some kids.

True smokey. I just think Petts is becoming a more consistent player for us and while he still needs to show more defensive pressure in the forward line as do our other forwards, he's reliably kicking 2-3 goals each week from a HFF.
