Mick Molloy - Before The Game
« on: February 23, 2008, 04:41:58 AM »
Not sure where to put this but he does barrack for the Tigers

Comedian Mick Molloy will replace Peter Helliar on Channel Ten's popular footy panel show Before The Game when it returns on March 22. Nine axed The Mick Molloy Show in 1999, and axed his chat show, The Nation, last year due to poor ratings.

A Richmond Tigers fan, Molloy is predicting a solid year for the side. "I've got a really good feeling about the Tiges," he says in a statement. "This could be our best ninth ever."

Maybe but his record on tv doesn't say much with all those shows axed.  Maybe a death knell for "Before the Game"?

Mick is great on radio.  On a panel like that he will do okay, where he's not the prime focus.  As an anchor he's not that good but he's a very funny man - funnier than some of that lot.

I wasn't trying to aggravate you, I do like the show.
And I especially liked Pete Hellier doing Strauchnie.  Brings out the silly in me lol.
No doubt after a few more years of him doing it I would have hated it.  Maybe he was smart to get out before he ruined his career doing that role and would be known only for that.
For memory now I know you dislike him so I really wasn't trying to be a smart arse by saying I liked them - I really do.
I know those blokes have been aroudn for a long time on radio, but I've never really come across them before.  I'm a 3AW listener these days - Ross and John  :rollin
So while you younger things might be sick of them, they're new to me.
There's one who doesn't do much for me and that's the Hawthorn supporter on the panel - don't know who he is but pretty weak in the comedy.

What I like about them is they don't try and humiliate ppl like TFS does.  They take the pee out of people but it's not nasty like the other mob.

And Micky will be the new Strauchnie so I know I'll get a laugh out of him.

Any footy show is a good show, Ox  :thumbsup

He might regret doing it if he goes near Jake King at training lol.

Because Molloy is a Tiger fan I won't say what I think of his 'comedy'.
