David King on SEN
« on: February 23, 2008, 01:05:00 PM »
David King on SEN just before 1pm:

* Played with our more experienced side last week but we were trying and experimenting players in important/key positions. Gave them another chance this week and made 3-4 changes. Melbourne were understrength but it was a good hit out.

* Not worried about the last couple of weeks. We know how much we have improved. We know where we going and are about. Round 1 is what we are about.

* Sugar, Tuck were very good in the midfield. Hughes 3, Petts 3. Backline worked well. Schulz was good as a backman. More senior bodies in important positions this week. Richo will improve our scoring power when he comes back in.

* Browny quiet on the scoreboard. Browny missed 3-4 shots which is unusual for him. Moving well though and has his old swagger back.

* Newy excellent off HB and in the midfield.

* Tambo patchy. Gave him a run in the midfield but would like to see a bit more from him.

* Narrandera next week. Expect the Swans to play a more senior side so it'll be a good test. Richo to come back in. We're not resting players as such but giving everyone game time setting ourselves for round 1.

* Not about the NAB Cup. It's about round 1.

lol just a touch RROFO

Perhaps a not so subtle reply to the aftergame reaction last week.

It could be still the effects of his ankle injury but Blingers has been quiet since coming back. He needs to attack the footy again.

to be honest i actually reckon richo helps our side dependent on the role he plays. If he plays as a goal-scoring option we are disadvantaged, and this has been proven numerous times where when he doesn't play our forward line functions better and we have more avenues to goal. But if he plays as a roaming CHF running between the 2 50 metre arcs he is invaluable  as an option for teammates running out of defence

no worries pal

its not about nab cup. yeah sure kingy your right thats they why we played all our senior players in that first game.

the only way to shut people like me up is to beat the blues in round 1.
anything less than a win is not good enough

believe it or not a loss in round one does eat at the rest of us too, itll hurt like **** BUT it aint the be all and end all of the season but your post is very entertaining and melodramatic all the same  :thumbsup

What is funny is that they say now its not all about the NAB cup after we lose..
We play nearly our best team.
Can tell you all they were desperate as anything to win to ensure that club started on a positive manner, and to also ensure membership was ""under pinned"" by good performances early in the year.
Interesting that the Tigers were backed off the map against the saints to win, $2.70 into $1.50 is fair indictation of the amount of money for them.
If we do get beat round 1., watch out I reckon
