The Herald-Sun is running an online poll asking what is Australia's best rock song?

I'd have chosen "It's a long way to the top" over "Jailbreak" :-\

Yep you could have had a number of AC/DC songs. Also Dirty Deeds, Hell's Bells, Back in Black.

All the other songs are 20+ years old. Looks like they included Jet as the token modern Aussie band song.

Id like to see how the Herlad Sun came up witht the top ten, Do they have a really old circulation or did they just grad a list for 15 years ago and throw in the only new band they could think of. There are so many bands and songs that are better than those these days that it wasnt worth voting.

Just to prove a point look at some of the bands listed here and tell me you wouldnt vote for any of them.

Not one song on that list is a favourite of mine - closest is the Easybeats - Friday on my Mind

If the poll was called the most over-rated Aussie rock song of all time I'd have an easy winner with a couple special mentions

1. Khe Sahn - I wish someone would just put all the copies of this song on the Last train out of Sydney so we don't have to be inflicted with it anymore. Can GOld104 go without playing it for 1 day  :banghead :banghead

2. Eagle Rock - a nuffink song, that makes me wanna do this  :chuck :chuck

3. Anything by the Hunters & Collectors - blah blah whatever

4. The Power & the Passion - no wonder Garrett went into politics -

 :eyebrow :eyebrow
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

Shook me all night long ACDC. :clapping
The Real thing from Russell Morris
something from INXS.
There you go the old and something more recent.
all these surveys do is create controversy.

I do like Nic Cester's version of "Evie" though.  Why wasn't Evie - all parts - on the list?
