To separate from the Dogs thread.  I had a similiar thread years ago but I can't find it.

Anyway, our poor cat Rennie is currently in hospital after surviving being run over by hubby's 3 tonne ute.  Poor thing has a broken tail, pelvis and possibly back legs.  Hubby was up early this morning and as we live on a corner block, got into his vehicle and went around the corner and Rennie ran out right in front of him.  She must have got up when hubby did because my son reported that Rennie had been asleep on his chest around 5am.  We couldn't find her for ages.  When she reappeared she seemed ok standing on both legs but got scared with Oscar barking at her and hid behind the sofa.  Fortunately, we have pet insurance.  Just spoke to the vet and he said she's sore but their pumping in fluids and something else and will do x-rays in the morning and he seemed confident.

All I can say is  :pray :pray :pray :pray

One of my cats had a broken pelvis from a similar type of accident a few years ago. Although in pain she was not totally incapacitated even though she had a distinct limp, and after a minor procedure and placement within a cage for about 6 weeks and she was fit and back to 100% health. A very traumatic time for us and her although our other cat was very curious and always wanted to get into the cage whenever we were cleaning it out. All the best Julz with the cat hope she pulls through :thumbsup

Spoke to the vet several times yesterday.  At this stage, fingers crossed, the only injury Rennie has is a broken tail.  The vet was going to do a full body x-ray to make sure he hasn't missed anything.  Unfortunately due to the severity of it, it looks like the tail will have to be amputated.  And she (Rennie is a girl) has such a beautiful, fluffy tail.

Thanks guys for all your best wishes.

My heart is broken.  Rennie took a turn for the worse.  Had to run her up to Brisbane to a specialist but prognosis very bad, without any guarantees.  Hardest decision to make.  Kids are upset, naturally.
