Gaming turned on its head in Victoria

Could be important for sporting clubs with pubs with gaming machines. Big chance for ambitious sporting clubs to expand now. I sense bigger profits for sporting clubs as a result.

There is nothing worse than starting a thread that slides into oblivion without a single reply.

Yep the clubs themselves can apply for the gaming licenses (don't need Tattersalls or TAB anymore) and collect all the profits.

You watch the players come out.

Eddie McMillionaire and Dicky Pratt for starters.

I see the Government taking more tax.

My greater hope is that they will hopefully spend it in areas that really need it - health, education and police

Actually I am not sure if it is a great result for sporting clubs - some are not going to be able to afford to bid

Before they introduced pokies into Victoria they increased the funding for Gambling counsellors because they knew it was going to be a problem.

TAB and Tattersalls will start buying up pokie venues especially those of clubs that can't afford to bid. This has hit them hard investor wise that's for sure.

Interesting to see how this affects RFC's two venues with 170 pokies.
