March and Wallace on 3aw (before the game)
« on: April 20, 2008, 05:04:21 PM »
Gary March on 3aw

* Countered Caro's comments about a lack of Richmond people. Said it offended a lot of people at the club. There's Flea, Neville Crowe, Francis Jackson and we've brought in Craig Cameron. But worst of all she left out the mentor role. A number of past players deeply offended. Not tokenism.

* Gary has spoken to Benny Gale about being on the board but he can't due to his AFLPA commitments. Would be conflict of interest. Comes to most games.

* We've got a real culture. Past legends told him it feels like the 70s/80s again. So Caro is talking a load of rubbish. He meets Caro often but disappointed with the article. Emotional without foundation.

* Fixture anomolies - we aren't disadvantage as some but disadvantaged from a commercial sense in terms of sponsors having no friday night at all for a big drawing club.

* Tried to get Michael Green on the board 2.5 years ago but he also has a massive conflict of interest and of course he lives in Sydney.

* Took issue with Caro's attack on Miller. Questioning his integrity as far as inferring he is more interested in his outside interests. Greg puts in 100 hours per week.

* March said Terry was still positive after the Pies game. He said it wasn't a endeavour problem. More overuse. Needed more tempo and we showed that against Freo.

* Gold Coast and uncontracted players - no major issue.

* Took issue with Mike's article over our player development. Used Thursty, King, Foley all rookies + Moore and McGuane as examples. Mike said he agreed with Foley, Thursty but they are rookies hence bonuses what about the other end. March said you said development under Terry and I've given you.examples [ed. Something like that IIRC]

Terry then came to the phone

* The Freo win helps as the pressure was on to perform.

* Should get away from day games in Perth and Brisbane at this time of the year. All right in June/July but it was 30 degrees on Sunday.

* All you can do is lightly train then early in the week then raise it later on.

* Internally we know the direction we are heading (internal monitoring) but there's a time you have to start to winning.

* People said we didn't have any other forwards coming through but we were going 40% of time to Richo so other forwards weren't getting an opportunity.

* We're tough inside the clinches. We need to match the Dogs on the outside where they are very good. We can't let them kick 20-22 goals. Suggested we play some tempo footy but not make it a 10 goal game. Something around 15-16 would be around about right.

* We want to be a side that is though inside yet dynamic outside.

* Joel had a reasonable game yesterday.

From Plough's tone he didn't seem too impressed with Joel's game at the Burgers.

Nice whack back at Caro from March.

Heard that too.  Gave no indication he was good enough to get a recall.

How would you know? Do you track the movements of every official, commentator etc in the game.

No, you don't. Stop pretending that you do, it's just ridiculous.

What.
What "things etc etc"
A couple of players haven't shown up. I can't always make functions of my old club either, it certainly hasn't paralysed my old club, they will be OK without me.

Stop trying to stir poo when it isn't there, or, name names, or as you like to put it, name FACTS.

You're like a broken record Jack  :banghead

You harp on and on about how you are no longer involved at the Club in any capacity (and say you are glad about it I might add) but you continue to claim you know what is going on at the place. Which is it exactly?

From where I sit I reckon you have no idea what is going there because you are NOT involved. Happy to stand corrected

As for the mentoring program - FACTS are:

1/ it exists and Caro convienently forgot to mention it her diatribe the other week because it didn't serve her purpose
2/ to not mention it was poor form on Caro's part because it is an insult to those past players involved
3/ past players I have spoken to enjoy being involved it and reckon it's a great idea...

So where does that leaves us exactly...  ::)

I will answer the above.

I am rapt not to be involved with a bunch of clowns, couldnt be bothered with back side lickers cause thats all it is down there.
Good to see Gordon Casey sitting next to Wallet in the box, we are in a bad way if Gordon is advising Wallet.
Maybe is was Gordon who forget to tell Wallet that there was 2 minutes to go and his main clearance players were sitting on the bench, we will never know.

I do know more whats going on down there now than when i did when I was there, fact.
As for the mentor program, if you really want to know, I will private message you the ex players that HAVE pulled out of the program due to players not turning up, poorly organised etc  Can tell you that a certain player was asked to go to a local school for half an hour on his way to training on day, I  he said yes, that will be $500 thank you very much
If you want to know who, Private message me.

I personally dont like Caro but I will say this, she is usually more right than wrong and when she does say something, there is usally something going down.
Whats real interesting that I have said time and time again the Caro is it close contact with the Millers , Wallaces and Marchs at Punt Road. Funny that Gary comes out and says that he does see caro regularly, well surprise surprise, lol.

Thanks for saying hello yesterday WP, you might be thinking why I was near the western bulldog rooms before the game, tell you at season end my friend ;)

If you really do have a part to play in the machinations of the RFC why do you go onto a web forum and shoot your mouth of so much.

You smack of a wannabe. You sound like the proverbial woman scorned.

Tell me if we win next week will you start to believe that we are headed in the right direction?

Will always say hello Jack.

But (and this may shock ya Jack) No I wasn't interested nor do I have any interest in why you were near the Bulldogs rooms. Actually didn't even notice you were near their rooms.

To borrow one of my own favourite sayings - I don't give a rats continental - FACT ;D

Caro dismissed March's comments as someone who hadn't read her article. She said there's not one player on the board, match committee or coaching staff and last time she checked Flea wasn't on the coaching staff. She said March has been trying for years to get Richmond people on the board. Hutchy said that doesn't mean there's cultural problems. Caro replied she believes there's still deep cultural problems at the club.
