Wallace on SEN with KB and Patrick Smith

* Smith: So are you playing Franklin or Hawthorn this week?
Wallace laughs. Hawthorn is a very good side across the ground so our preparation has been on Hawthorn as a whole and trying to find a few spots to break them down.

* On Richo - Plough said he can remember a little Tiger rover who had to change his role late in his career and was reborn. Happened to a number of older star - Glen Archer, Greg Williams, Leigh Matthews. We just found we were going to Richo 40% of the time and it was stifling our younger players. Moving Richo to the wing was a chance for us to grow as a footy club. Richo was sick of walking off the ground a loser too.

* On those last 4 minutes - Experience difference between us and the dogs. Many of our blokes had only won 1-4 games. As long as we learn from it that is all he cares about. For example against Freo Matty White streaming down the ground blazed away at a pocket but this week in the same sitaution he centred the ball to Browny.

* Tackling/pressure - a combination of a change in personnel and mindset. If you don't have the mindset to do it then you won't get a game.

* Agreed with Smith that we had to change otherwise 2008 would become another 2007. You'd like to go with some senior players but when they can only take you so far then you need to change.

* Lake faking a hammy - no issue. Laughed about Mike's article.

* Sugar - He's been the driving force on player behaviour. He made a mistake and he's been apologetic. He's been fantastic the last few weeks and a driving force for us both on and off field.

* Bowden - He hasn't always started years well. A lack of confidence so we have got him to work on a few things at VFL level. Same with Petts.

* Jack Riewoldt - He's jumped up over summer. We went with Cleve first but Terry said he thought Jack had worked hard on his fitness to be at a level where he wouldn't go back to the VFL once he came in. Ready to stay at AFL level than compared to 12 months ago.

Seems Jack has gone ahead of Cleve in the pecking order.

Looks like Plough has finally realised if he didn't change the status quo then he would be the one who would be changed.

Making alot of sense. Hope Hyde and the like can do a number on the Hawks midfield as they did with the Dogs. I've heard Hydy was basically tackling Griffin before the ball was even bounced - as long as he isn't pinged for it - I saw do whatever works!

Seems like the Richo move will be a permanent thing. I think this is a sensational decision and one that I  (and many others I know) have been pushing for the last couple of years.

Another great set of news was about the tackling and Bowden/Petts. I love the way he said that he would only include players that were going to help us win, apply pressure and help us in the future. Unless Petts and Bowden can begin to tackle and play for the Coburg team then they will have little chance of returning soon and I think this speaks volumes about our depth and our improving culture.

Cleve looks like he may fade away now unless he can work his arse off like Jack obviously has. Jack is valued for his leadership and team-orientated mindset as much as his developing ability.

Overall a very positive and heartening interview. Thanks for the great summary one-eyed! :thumbsup
