Alex Rance seemed to be spectating a little bit, he was around the action but never in it in the half i saw. I wouldnt drop him, he needs to stay in the Coburg 1s for a while so he can learn to get into it more.

I was pleased with JONs capacity to get the footy, I still have doubts about his disposing of the pill and his decision making, nevertheless we shouldnt be in a hurry to offload at this stage, theres something there thats indicating it will come good in time.

Clearly not based on today's game. Was brilliant in these departments today

JON seems like a wingman at AFL level but I could be wrong. His kicking was ok in the first half, ran himself into trouble from memory 1 time, 1 or 2 kicks in that period werent crisp but overall, I was happy with what I saw him do.

I agree except I did also think to myself he disposes of the ball just as he is tackled an awful lot. The game doesn't get any slower at AFL level. Had a couple of brain fades but his work overall was good. I have always been impressed with his defensive work. If we can get hime to click we will be a better team for it I think.

If JON becomes a handy AFL footballer it would be a massive bonus at this point. I hope he gets another game in the seniors shortly.

I take it Casserly was injured again at training the other day? :P

Thanks for the reports guys. :clapping

Was extremely impressed by Cotchin's second half, we've got a good one there.

Greed with Coach Rawlings on JON, thought he was superb off half back, controlled his opponent offered plenty of dash, was very impressive, classy even.

Thought Shultz and  Polak were the other standouts, very good hit out overall, especially in the second half

However, IMHO Bowden and Pettifer didnt do enough to be levated

Good summary bluey  :clapping.

My 2c:

The first half was very sloppy by both sides. Mistakes galore once each side crossed the centre or wings. Coburg was getting their hands on the ball more as the half progressed and the last 5 minutes before half-time were a sign of things to come. Second half was a training session for Coburg. Burgers smashed the Pies at the stoppages and clearances and the ball spent 90% of the time forward of centre. If we had kicked straight the margin could have been 80-90 points in the end.

Polo - quiet first half but I thought he got better and more involved as the game progressed. Deano was regularly in the play by the end. Best he's played in a very long time I thought. Hopefully a sign he's regaining confidence in his shoulder. Now he has to turn that good half into a month of solid performances.

Cotchin - Tagged and was held in the first half but broke away in the second. Simply all class and a smart footballer. Preaching to the converted (me lol). It looked like he played the whole game so he's not far away. Unleash him against the bombers.

Polak - Reckon he earned a return to AFL. In the first half he's leading outside 50 straightened us up but he was double teamed when inside 50 so he didn't hold any contested marks. This changed in the second half as he marked virtually everything in sight. Kicking for goal is still suspect but hard to knock a 20 possie, 15 mark game.

Bowden - Could have kicked 7 if he had his kicking boot on. He still had his "Joel" moments of trying to do too much and be too cute but I think the coaches would be happy with him.

Tivs - Footpassing up to half-time was flawless  :o in a Coburg side that turned over the ball or stuffed up goal chances regularly. I thought he tried to kick goals all by himself after half time when he could have found better options but with 30 disposals and Collingwood witches hats it was party time for Tivs.

JON - He's ability to get his hands on the footy has improved out of sight (took some very good marks today) but it's still heart in your mouth stuff when he has the ball in traffic or he thinks to much not going for the first option. Fortunately the pressure from the Pies was non-existent and he cleaned up hitting targets. Was one of Coburg's bests.

Cartledge - another good solid game in the ruck. Gave the mids regular first use of the footy.

Petts - Like bluey I thought for someone with so much of the ball didn't have a huge impact on the game. I wouldn't promote him based on today.

Hughes - Copped a poke in the eye and looked like he was hobbling too as he walked along the boundary line. Didn't return after half-time. Before that he was solid.

Connors - Agree with bluey. Good in patches. Made a few errors early on but that improved as the game went along. He still needs more games at VFL to get his match-fitness up.

Silvester - Solid. Dawes outmarked him a couple of times but apart from that a good game.

Rance - Quiet. He looked like he was still finding the pace of the game coming from the VFL 2's. The ball wasn't down his end much after half-time so that didn't help.

Gus - Looked awkward early on but another who I thought was better in the second half. Did some nice thinks clearing from contests to the runners.

Cogs - Really on noticed him in patches when he set up scoring chances with a subtle handball out from the contest to a runner who didn't need to break stride. Getting through the game unscathed will be a huge relief for him.

Schulz - Good solid game at CHB. Combined with Silvester set up a brick wall across HB. Will probably keep his spot in the side now. Great goal in the last btw.

Petts avoid the contested footy and it results in a Collingwood goal. Siren

Tigers claw pitiful Pies

Coburg put in a dominant performance across the ground to run out comfortable 53-point winners over a disappointing Collingwood outfit at Coburg City Oval today.

For the second time in successive weeks, the Magpies were competitive in the first half before being blown away late, conceding nine goals in the second half while managing only four, the final margin flattering thanks to two late consolation goals.

The Tigers always looked the better side, their strong contingent of AFL-listed players leading the way. Greg Tivendale and Kayne Pettifer were outstanding, Tivendale in particular brilliant in a best-on-ground performance. He was everywhere, particularly in the first half, while Pettifer was also busy with 25 possessions and two goals.

Also catching the eyes of coach Jade Rawlings and Richmond mentor Terry Wallace would have been the performances of Graham Polak and Joel Bowden, both of whom put in strong showings. Bowden, playing forward, proved far too much for the Collingwood defence and if not for some wayward kicking could have done far better than his three-goals-five, while Polak’s strong marking was a standout.

The Magpies, on the other hand, had few winners, with only Ryan Lonie, Ben Reid and Rohan Frost able to hold their heads high after an otherwise disappointing performance.

It didn’t start that way, the Pies with the better of a scrappy opening ten minutes - Jaxson Barham showed shades of father Ricky with a brilliant blind turn and goal to put the first major on the board. From there, it was goal-for-goal, Tivendale brilliant with two including a gem from long range.

Both teams battled hard in an entertaining second term, trading majors as the tempo rose, several scuffles breaking out. By half time, the game was still in the balance, Coburg leading by 13 but by no means in control.

That changed after the break, however, a five goal third term setting up the Tigers’ big victory. While the Richmond contingent still led the way, Jay Schulz and Polak again busy, it was Fortunato Caruso that took the game away from the Magpies. The Coburg terrier was in everything, his pressure and run helping his side to a healthy lead at the last change.

Four Tigers goals to start the fourth saw the game well and truly over, and it could have been worse for the Pies had Bowden not kicked 1.3. In the end it was of little consequence though, Coburg far too good and Collingwood with plenty to think about before next weeks clash with Casey.
