Cotchin to debut for Richmond

RICHMOND coach Terry Wallace has confirmed that Trent Cotchin will make his AFL debut against Geelong at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

Cotchin was one of the bright spots today, looks like he will be a 10-15 year player.

Can't wait until we play the Bombers next week.

I was absolutely rapt with our first half effort.  Was particularly impressed with Mcguane trying to impose himself physically.   

But the scoreboard rarely lies.  Geelong showed why they're the best team in the comp in the 2nd half - we've got a bit of work ahead of us and I reckon we're making solid progress.  No complaints here.

McMahon had plenty of the ball but I was disappointed with his performance. I have defended him on this forum more than once in the past but felt he was soft today, was pushed off the ball too easily, didn't put his body on the line and turned the ball over under pressure.

I would prefer to bring in Raines (when fit) to fill his role becasue I know I would get a player who would be fearless. McMahon always seems polished when he is not under pressure and is given space but we need someone who will do the team things and not just be a reciever.

Cotch was impressive considering the conditions, quality of opponent and the amount of games he has played . It was interesting to hear TW say why he included Cotch. I wonder with better conditions, where run and carry comes to the fore, whether he will included considering his fitness levels? I would like to see him playing.

raines does have disposal accuracy issues but at least he is a tough nut, always hard at the footy.

I have to say I to was happy with the first half. But then I thought our desision making got real bad. I thought some of the passes were hospital balls just to save their own necks. Passing was a lot to be desirered.
But we had some real bright points.
And I will say it again bring Newman in as the captain he's by far the best leader out there for us. This should not be waited on until next year do it now.
I don't like captain guttless.

What do people think of Richie's game. I know he struggled to get into the game and find the ball, but for me he at least did some things that were really good. Got a good clearance in the 1st IIRC where he slipped out a slick handball. And laid a beaut run-down tackle on Joel Selwood.

We lost our one chance for an advantage, the Ruck, by having Simmo the lone hand with a part timer the rest of the time, Patto wouldve eaten Mumford up.

ritchie has been good all yr, his 1st bad game , but bloody hell, i dont think he has ever played in cold and wet conditions ever in his life

but he was better than white and king, so have a dig at them
