Rumours of Players coming to Richmond
« on: May 08, 2008, 06:53:55 PM »
Im not sure if we have a specific thread for this, but a thread mentioning all the rumours of players coming to us would be good. The rule is, you gotta produce a link to the source of the rumour please.

1. Robert Warnock - Fremantle, reported on C10 news in Perth.

As reported on Channel 10 over here Richmond had a meeting in Leederville on Monday about Warnock joining the Tigers. A 4 year contract was offered which was agreed upon. Warnock hates living in Perth and his non selection has left him fuming. If a deal with Richmond isnt worked out he will enter the PSD and probably be snapped up by Melbourne who he has no qualms in joining. Fremantle would want a 1st round draft pick but will end up settling with a 2nd rounder.

Robbie wants to join Richmond not Melbourne. He will go to Melbourne if he has too but would much prefer to join Richmond where he can walk in as the number 1 ruckman and not worry about blokes like Natanui, Meesen taking his spot. Melbourne cant match Richmonds offer at all.
LOL Freo wanting a 1st round pick. Even a 2nd rounder is overpriced for someone who is playing WAFL on a bottom 4 AFL club list. I'm not saying Warnock's a dud as he's still young for a ruckman but this is a purchase still based purely on potential so a 3rd round pick seems fairer. Similar to Morton last year. Better still a swap or 3-way trade so we keep hold of our picks.

Except for last year when the season was well down the gurgler by now lol.

I think with the current state of WA footy a few names other than Warnock might bail to come East.

Saw Warnock yesterday against WCE rookie listed Will Sullivan.

Athletically Warnock looks OK, and gave West Perth 1st use early, just went missing a little bit in the last half when the Demons surged.

Could be that 200cm+ ruck option that RFC desperately need as his foot skills are decent and tap is solid.

Definately do not trade a 1st round draft pick as that is for the Kruegers & Leunbergers.  Given the trade value of 2nd club ruckman looking for opportunities (thanks Sydney) probably would be looking at 2nd round and fringe player or 3rd round and established player.

PSD would be best case scenerio, however you would think to get it over the line the deal would be for top $ and minimum 4 years.

Wouldn't give much at all up for him. Struggles for a game at a side with a major ruck shortage. Reckon we've got a couple more years of Simmonds, more time for Patto, Gus and Putt to develop and for us to pick up another young ruck in the draft. Wouldn't say no to him, but only if he came very cheap.

Jezza, Warnock not getting a regular game probably says more about Freo's structure than it does about his ability.

yep...agree with that.....he certainly should be playing as their 2nd ruck...but somehow..with freo..they dont' want to have 2 giant ruckmen running around in the same side....rather have sandilands and a non-ruckman in gilmore to fill in
