Kane Johnson last night
« on: May 25, 2008, 09:58:15 AM »
Well from what l witnessed last night Kane Johnson  :(
his ability is shot to peices, his decision making, handballs, kicking are at thier worst
l think he seriously needs some coke bottle glasses  :-\ is his eyesight failing him
l cant see the captain lasting the year out with some performances
l give him credit for being around such a longtime putting his body on the line constantly in AFL football,  but its caught up with him quickly & sometimes looks ugly. l think he will retire before the end of season cause he needs to stand aside & let someone with fresh body take over

He is not quite that bad but after a great start to the year, it looks like the game is slowly catching up and taking over.

He'll play out the season and retire - say what you like about Kane Johnston but he is the most selfless captain we have had at the club since Tony Free.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

kane was not that bad last night, had a quieter game but his leadership was great, sure he made his usual blunder or 2 but his goal was so important 4 us and was a typical "captains goal"

great captains goal. ooh how we needed that...

but not enough. i wont write him off yet cause only a few weeks ago he was playing sensational footy. last 2 weeks terrible..

goodbye kane come season's end. if we are to move forward we need fresh ideas, fresh leaders and he doesn't cut it for me.

He scored that goal but how often have we seen that. hardly ever...

his skills are really shocking. i mean he can hardly kick 50 blood=y metres and thats our captain!! come on..

First low disposal game for the year for Sugar so a chance to redeem himself this week when we need him against the in-form Swannie mids. Sugar is still our leading possession winner at 26 per game.

Still has the 9th most touches per-game in the AFL.

I can't see the like of Raines, Polo, Connors etc. matching that.

Johnson is pretty safe IMO.

Apart from the Carlton and Freo games where his performance did significantly help us get over the line and the Hawthorn game in the remainder of the games he has been just a contributor. However he has shown more leadership this season as opposed to last season and his goal in the third quarter when Essendon were coming was more than timely and a captains goal. Overall he has been much better than last year in terms of his playing and his leadership.
