No need to personally attack Rhett. He's entitled to his opinion and whether you like it or not, KB was a great player.

Way too harsh Shannon! That is a disgusting personal attack. >:(  All are champoins in their own right and deserve their place in history, KB was a great player  and an integral part of our team.

richo has played way more games as a half forward than a full forward, so as a half forward goal kicker richo has proven he is a legend. all other major goal kickers played deep at fullforward or forward pocket, like leigh matthews and your dad , kb never got the nick name hungry for no reason, very selfish and over rated player, who was carried over 400 games. richo will be remembered as a better legend at the rfc than your dad, when his day is done and rightfully so.
kb, your dad played and was carried in the glory days, successfully brutal teams, whereas richo has had to carry a team through a pathetic era
yes you r selfish and take a biased opinion, your dad is half the man, and half the player richo is, and if richo played with richmond through the glory days, he would have over 1000 goals by now.
so it seems, just like your dad, you take a selfish point of view, and both probably suffer from litlte mans syndrome, unlike richo
ps, if they had gps back in the old days, it would have been pretty funny, because richo would cover more ground playing as a forwrd than your dad ever did as a rover

In all the posts on this forum I don't think I have ever read a more uninformed or inaccurate pile of dribble.  You might have done well to shut your mouth because you have just stamped yourself as a fool.  Maybe it would have been good if you had seen Bartlett actually play a game, then you might have had just one silky thin shred of credibility before launching into your garbage opinion and garbage post.  Yep, we all have an opinion and we are all entitled to our own but you just embarrassed yourself with yours.

yeah thats a very silly comment to make.
those old timers like KB, disco and hart played on grounds not suitable for even smokey and moi to walk on,  so for me their standing in the game should never be questioned.

Is now equal with KB and 11th all-time.

Fantastic effort, and hopefully rewarded with positive acknowledgement across the league.

I will be looking forward to the media roll out next week cos you get it all with the 'Cho.

from the Herald-Sun
Jon Ralph
June 16, 2008

Richardson was happy to console himself with best-afield honours, and being elevated to equal second on the Tigers' all-time goals tally.

He is equal with Kevin Bartlett (778 goals), and behind only Jack "Skinny" Titus (970).

"Yeah, I would be lying if I said I don't know about that. 'KB' is a champion of our footy club, so to have your name up there alongside him is something to look back on," Richardson said.

The Tigers champion said if Richmond could build on the momentum of last night, finals were not out of reach.

"We had a reasonably tough draw and we blew games we should have won, but we can still make the finals. It's in our hands. If we can beat the teams we should beat, we will be a chance," Richardson said.

"Eighth spot is still up for grabs."

Well done to Richo. Only 190 more goals to go to surpass Jack Titus. The way he is playing and with the engine he has whose to say he won't hang around long enough to do so.
His move to the wing has coincided with a marked improvement in his set shooting for goal. That goal on the angle from the dead pocket at AAMI in the last quarter was just magnificent and oh so important the way the game eventually panned out. :bow      The type of shot from the type of distance he would generally fluff if he was being played exclusively as a forward in previous seasons.

If Richo can maintain his average of 3 goals per game until the end of next season, he'll be right on the 874 goals by Peter McKenna in 8th spot. Hopefully he can overtake that pansy Lloyd too.

foot skills not as good as today[/quote]

hmmm i wouldnt be too cocky about that.

i've been following since the seventies and i gotta say i think the skill levels have fallen away a little since then.

the game is definately alot faster now thats for sure but dont let that fool you into thinking its alot more skillful.

Coleman, Skilton, Teddy, Hart, Baldock, Nash ...so many legends of the past were out and out guns.

I would say the early 30's were the golden era of football. so many afl legends from that era, so many long standing records.

Jack Dyer said in his last years that the best player pound for pound he ever saw in his whole lifetime was the great Laurie Nash.

He must of been pretty damn good cause when you think of all the players that played in Dyers lifetime gee thats a real honour PLUS Dyer isnt the only one that says this about Laurie Nash either.

From hearing bits from players over the years, I think Laurie Nash was a bit keen on himself as well lol
Whitten is the one everyone from yesteryear rates as the best.
I don't see it.  I vaguely remember seeing him play and he was a tough bloke, skilful and everything they say.  But the best?  I wouldn't have minded having a Leigh Matthews in any Tiger side going.  Brilliant player, tough as anything with great skills.
I think sometimes old players get stuck in a time warp and can't see beyond their playing days.

I've been following footy since the 70's too and i'm pretty sure that the only kpi that has not risen over the years is accuracy in front of goal.Kicking effeciency has improved but i'll grant one thing, the chip and hold and kick backwards may inflate those effeciencies a little. I've also been playing footy(albiet bush footy) since 1983 and the skills have definately improved.
