And at 175cm and 66kg, Titus was shorter and lighter than both Jake King and Nathan Foley.  Puts his performance in real perspective.

I reckon Jack Titus' achievements get too easily forgotten at times

Played at Coburg too - kicking 119 goals

Richo closes in on KB
By Tony Greenberg
 9:53 AM Thu 12 June, 2008

Matthew Richardson has moved to within five goals of second-placed Kevin Bartlett on Richmond’s all-time goalkicking list.

The Tiger champion’s three-goal return against Adelaide at the MCG last Saturday took his overall tally to 773 in 267 games, just five behind KB’s 778, which he amassed in 403 games.  Jack Titus is the Tigers’ greatest-ever goalkicker, with 970 in his 294 games.

This also means that ‘Richo’, who has 30 goals to the half-way mark of the home-and-away season, is only six goals away from displacing Bartlett in 11th place on the AFL’s all-time goalkicking list.

For Richo to move into the top 10 on the league’s list before season’s end, he would have to kick a further 45 goals.

11 games 45 goals. 4.09 goals a game. Would take his tally to 75 goals if he were to achieve it. An excellent return for a bloke who has played forward wing and every other position in the team.

William Powell is right. Titus is often forgotten for his contribution to the club.

From a personal (and slightly selfish point of view) - Richos impending overtaking of my father's 778 goals-puts into perspective as well, how much of a goal kicker KB was , when he wasn't even a full forward.

Titus as well is far and above everyone in Richmond's history, the best goalkicker, in a time of heavier footballers, muddier grounds, shorter seasons - he is an out and out champion

Sorry Rhett, i have to say it because everyone else is thinking it. Your dad didnt handball, hence the nick name.lol. Seriously, you are right! To play on surburban grounds with, lets face it, foot skills not as good as today and kick as many as your old man is a wonderful achievement. I feel so proud to follow a club with the ilks of Bartlett, Richo, Hart, Dyer, Titus, Bourke and the like as players both past and present

After 65 years of watching league football I can tell you for certain that the foot skills of old were far superior to those of today

My footskills were far better back then than they are now.   :lol :lol :lol

But seriously, I know I have mentioned it on here before but Titus's achievements stand all that much taller when you consider the stature of the man - same height and lighter than Jake King or Nathan Foley, yet played the key position of full forward in the day of crappy grounds and tough men.  What a champion.

richo has played way more games as a half forward than a full forward, so as a half forward goal kicker richo has proven he is a legend. all other major goal kickers played deep at fullforward or forward pocket, like leigh matthews and your dad , kb never got the nick name hungry for no reason, very selfish and over rated player, who was carried over 400 games. richo will be remembered as a better legend at the rfc than your dad, when his day is done and rightfully so.
kb, your dad played and was carried in the glory days, successfully brutal teams, whereas richo has had to carry a team through a pathetic era
yes you r selfish and take a biased opinion, your dad is half the man, and half the player richo is, and if richo played with richmond through the glory days, he would have over 1000 goals by now.
so it seems, just like your dad, you take a selfish point of view, and both probably suffer from litlte mans syndrome, unlike richo
ps, if they had gps back in the old days, it would have been pretty funny, because richo would cover more ground playing as a forwrd than your dad ever did as a rover
