yes let them have him. carlton need someone like him, and you would think he is worth a first round draft pick.
i like newy but the hawks made tough decisions with thompson and hay at the time so we must do the same.

i have got a sneaky feeling that the success of rodan and otto(premiership medallion) will come back to bite us as others like newy and lids would see that its better to be playing elsewhere than at the richmond football club.

Jealousy at other clubs may not afflict just Newy and Lids who might chase glory somewhere else what about players who can't break into the AFL team like Connors Hughes Polo. Then you have boys like Cotchin Foley who has had a taste of state footy with bonafide stars and Premiership players that may want to chase success. However we have had loyal players like Richo who epitomise the tiger spirit but it helps when your old man played in a flag for the club to have that indoctrinated into you and others who have stuck around like Tivva and co b/c nobody else would draft them anyway and we wouldn't delist them. Loyalty to one club is not as apparennt in this day and age especially in an environment that is not conjucive to success such as Richmond so expect perhaps some early draft picks from seasons gone by to move to greener pastures. Dangling a carrot such as the captaincy may not be enough as these blokes may want to play with the freedom of not being the best player in the side  not having to shoulder the teams load as they did at Richmond but go to the club be assurred a place in the side and a successful one and September glory.

doubt that very much but carlton if anyone.

sometimes big decisions need to be made.

the blues feel they have all positions covered except a player like newman.

would they give up a top 10 pick, i think they would.

guess who is newman's best mate.. fev!!

Carlton are red hot for Newman, Essendon also sniffing around. Carlton firm favorite if he leaves Richmond.

can someone confirm he is out of contract, i believe he is...

the blues need a defender and dont need any players from the draft so id say we go for it..

i think it is inevitable we will lose one or big names this year.

newy...fev...best man....done deal

The Carlton rumour I first heard atleast 2 months ago. Essendon more recently. Usually rumours are just crap, but Im pretty confident that this is right. Carlton red hot for Newman and Essendon also in the picture.

What do you know about this Jacko? Coz its taken me 2 months to come out with it from when I first heard it and to be honest, whilst most rumours are crap and wishful thinking on the part of supporters from clubs, I actually believe that this could be on.

Not a very good audition first up although Newy was good in parts. No one stood up when we needed someone to make a stand and we can't blame Sugar for yesterday.

Agreed - I thought it was something that stood out in the 3rd qte in particular - the lack of leadership.

Say what you like about Sugar but when we need someone to go in hard (especially in the middle) at a contest, to make a contest he shows the way. We missed him on Saturday

The last 8 minutes was ordinary from the side but I thought both Foley and Newy redeemed themselves this week. Both had top games as step-in captains.

I thought Foley had a good game today but I thought Newy was very very reliable and stood up very well in the last quarter. Both boys showed a great deal of leadership today but Newy in the last quarter was outstanding. Newy was inspirational that attack of the footy in the second quarter on the outer wing at AAMI when he launced himself at the contest propelled the ball forward which ended up with Polo persisting on the boundary line to set up Jacks goal was terrific. Was a catalyst to turn the second quarter around that bit of courage skill and tenacity by Newy as we kicked our only 3 goals of the quarter in the ensuing 3 minutes. Terrific stuff. :thumbsup

Deledio gets tagged heavily and Foley pops up with 30 touches.
It's amazing what midfield depth can do to a team
