why do we even bother with tivendale
« on: June 07, 2008, 10:10:45 PM »
was absolutely useless.....did nothign at all today...everytime he got the ball...he got caught holding the ball or stuff it up......no awareness and no vision at all.....
i've thought this during the week when he was named in the side....so what if he's getting alot of stats in the VFL......doesn't mean anything.....VFL has no defensive pressure compared to the AFL.....hence when the pressure is on and he has little time....tivo can't do jack all with it....hell..he's not an in and under player and he can't tag....so..he's just useless to us...

we have much better options up our sleeve.....any of the kids would do a better job.....if he's not dropped next week....it's disgraceful

Played his last AFL game today. A chance now for him to win a Liston trophy and be part of a VFL premiership before he retires.

Hyde will come in for him next week then Tivva will be back out for Hyde at a later point in time as that has been the pattern all year. The differece in standard b/ween VFL and AFL is so stark and Tivvas no longer has it at this level regardless of the countless number of stats he gets. Hopefully TW does not use the experience card at the selection table and the public forum to justify his inclusion regardless of form and bites the bullet and plays a kid like Polo Connors or somebody else. Hopefully as MT has said he has played his last AFL game.

If i was greg ( i dont deserve to have my name start with capitals ) tivendale, i would not wash my boots, because the only chance of ever touching the hallow turf of the G again is if he ran his fingers between the studs. :banghead

Ok l have been a supporter for Tivendale to come back after his very good form at VFL level & he deserved it
l was wrong  :'( l had hope for him but he has shown he dont have what it takes
Greg Tivendale has played his last game for Richmond football club & would be told so this week l expect
he has served the club in a bad era & has given his best & had some great moments but the pace of the game is too great for him & its over
Tivendale is a good footballer at VFL level & he should go back & enjoy it while he can because another 2 seasons he be too slow for that as well as youngsters push hard to take his spot
I was not shocked yesterday cause l seen it all before, but one thing everyone involved at the RFC & it supporters now know Tivendale has given his best & his AFL career is finally over.
Now we should all support him & hope that he has a chance to win the Liston Trophy with his good form at VFL for the Coburg Tigers & hope that he can help us win a premiership this year to finalize his career as a Richmond player & move on after footy  :clapping cya Tivs  ;D

I'd also like to second your remarks TM.  Tivendale might not have been the greatest foot soldier the club has ever seen and now looks to have finally seen the game pass him by.  He also might not have been given the opportunities to play at this level if he had been at another club.  BUT, he gave his best for our club, never pretended to be anything he wasn't, never held the club to ridicule or ransom, and for one of the first players to enter through the rookie system, he was actually one of the most most successful ever, playing nearly 200 games for our club.  That stamps him as a player worth of some credit and respect within our club and he deserves to have history pay him this when his name is discussed.  He may play seniors again this season but on yesterday's performance I largely doubt it, to some extent I even hope he doesn't, but that shouldn't be confused with acknowledging the servant and ambassador he has been.  It would be a fitting end to his career if he was afforded the opportunity to return to Coburg and win the Liston - judging by all reports he should be well up with a chance - and I believe our young cubs playing along side will benefit greatly from his example of unselfishness and dedication to his cause and craft.

I travelled 3 and a half hours to watch that yesterday and 3 and half hours home. The best part of the trip was the abc team paying us out (all of them) about picking tivendale in the side. They all agreed that he won't play ones again. MacClure said that Reiwoldt, Morton and Conners must play next week and then the rest of the season. The team said, and i agree, that we will never get respect as a club till we play kids over blokes like Tiv. Bowden will have to go and pettifer as well.

I said yesterday he had played his last AFL game but come to think of it he may still get one final send off game in round 22 with a few others.

I actually felt for Tiv on Saturday - here was a bloke who knew it was probably his last chance and he had a shocker. Based on his form at Coburg he deserved a chance, it didn't work out time to move on.

Who was the victim? Surely he killed someone over the past weekend?

I don't remember any AFL player getting shafted as much as Tivendale has since the Crows game - highlights of him being tackled on football shows, numerous comments on radio and in the press - maybe we could organise a ritual hanging at the MCG at half time.

The guy deserve some respect, he's played 180 plus games at the elite level. He had done everything asked of him at Coburg and deserved a game, particularly as Johnson needed to be replaced, and he had a shocker - big deal. He will surely need counselling if he reads or listens to half what is being said about him -

Good luck to him and thanks to him for his service to the club.

I actually like Tiv as a bloke.Doesnt sook when he goes back to Coburg and has given his all for the club. Wouldnt think he is highly paid either. What you see is what you get with him.
