Who will win the NAB Rising Star?
« on: July 31, 2008, 07:32:52 PM »
Healy and Tony were asking callers who they thought would win the rising star award this year.

Cotchin got a good wrap although Healy said Cotch's been a bit quiet the last 2 weeks and although he may be the best of the group in the long run he may be beaten by others who have played all year.

So is our boy in #9 a good show for the Rising Star or will he get pipped by others?

I reckon he will poll well due to his form in his early games and the fact the commentators drool over him

Cotch for the Rising Star :thumbsup

I thought Cotch may be a chance with Palmer set to miss the rest of the season.

He played well again last week Palmer and if he does play the season out will most likely win it.

Cotch will be a better player though.

Lets hope they go head to head in Round 21 and the winner is chosen from who has the better game

A stats comparison:

RP - 15 games, 205k, 69m, 143h, 348d, 7g, 7b, 34t, 23.2 ave disp.
TC - 9 games, 93k, 51m, 73h, 166d, 8g, 3b, 17t, 18.44 ave disp.
MK - 15 games, 70k, 40m, 71h, 141d, 10g, 0b, 30t, 9.4 ave disp (plus 137ho).

I think our boy has a bit of ground to make up, even though I also believe he will end up being better than both of the others.

Sportsbet

Rhys Palmer (Fremantle)            1.35
Trent Cotchin (Richmond)          4.25
Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn)                10.00
Jack Riewoldt (Richmond)          17.00

Riewoldt is 4th favourite!  :thumbsup

Jack Riewoldt for me as I think he has shown enough.
